I wasn't a deep sleeper, and so when Bradley came back and started pacing, it didn't take long for me to open my eyes.
I groaned then turn to look at him, but his mind was elsewhere. "What's wrong?"
His head turned in my direction, "Oh. Sorry if I woke you."
I looked at the lines in his face and repeated my question. "Bradley, is something wrong?" I slowly lift myself into a sitting position.
He nodded, "Yea. Your friend Amelia is threatening to go to the police tomorrow if you're not returned by noon today."
My eyes widen in surprise. "Oh." Those were the last words I expected to hear coming from his mouth. I thought Mia had calmed down after we spoke on the phone almost a week ago.
He nodded, "Yea. Loyal friend."
I nodded, "She is." I paused. "So, what are we gonna do?"
"Well, first things first, we need to call Amelia. Prison doesn't seem entertaining to me." He sighed and ran his hands through his hair. "I'm bringing you back to New York."
I shrugged, "You probably should have thought about that before you kidnapped me." I said, replying to his first statement. His second statement, however, made my heart race.
I'm going home, and for some reason, I didn't feel happy about it.
He hissed, "Yup. I should have."
I stared at him for a few seconds, "So...are you going to call her or should I?
He shook his head, "Yes, of course. Sorry. My mind is far away."
I smiled, trying to lighten the mood. The only thing Mia could do was report me missing and tell them who she suspected did it. They wouldn't arrest him unless they have substantial proof that he'd actually kidnapped me. "If it makes any difference, you won't be charged unless I make a report since I'm the victim."
He looked at me, "I know that, but the media will have a field day if they hear about this. I can read the headlines write now, "Bradley Mefford charged with Hate Crime and Kidnapping. Bradley Mefford is a racist kidnapper and so many other crazy titles they'll try and come up with."
I rolled my eyes and wrapped the duvet around my naked body. "And, of course, that's all you care about." I stood from the bed.
He groaned, "Tiffany, this is business. The simplest of things can make or break a company. My father has worked so hard to become one of the best in the business, and I can't be the reason he loses it all."
"Maybe you should have thought of that before you kidnapped me." I rolled my eyes, "Frankly, you're getting away easy. You should thank God that I'm not going to sue your ass." I walked over to him and stretched my hands out. "Phone."
"Tiffany..." he started, but I lift my hands to stop him.
"I don't want to hear anything you have to say. Give me the phone let me call my friend." I was angry and annoyed at his words. After almost a week of being together, I thought he actually cared about me, but no, it's always about what the media has to say.
He handed the phone to me without an argument.
I dialled Mia's number and waited for an answer. Mia wasn't the type to answer her phone in the middle of the night; in fact, she usually puts her phone on do not disturb during the night.
Not tonight, apparently. "Hello." Mia's sleepy voice answered.
"Mia, it's Tiffany."
"Tiffany? Omigod. Are you okay? I've been so worried. Did he hurt you? Oh lord, we're going to get the best lawyer in the city. We have to make sure that crazy man never know the meaning of freedom again. I don't know what's it these rich men thinking they can do anything they want to do. Kidnapping you over a stupid Twitter post. That's freaking ridiculous. I swear to God if I so much as see a bruise on you, I'll kill him myself." she ranted.
