You and Me (Hiccup x Female Reader)

Prologue: Our Beginning

Y/N POV (You're 9 years old)

I wake up to someone shaking me awake. "Wake up y/n! Come on!" I hear my brother's voice say.

"Where are we going?" I ask, groggily.

"Come on! I saw something in the woods and I need you! It's an animal." He says, and I perk up. The word 'animal' is mine and my brother's code word for dragon. My brother and I are the only people in our village - other than our brother - that believe dragons are not dangerous.

Arjuna and I have a way with dragons, we're both really good with them. If Arjuna needs me then it must be a really cool or really dangerous dragon, he can befriend most dragons but not all of them.

I jump out of bed, getting my f/c leggings, f/c shirt and my daggers. I brush my hair and put it in my usual hairstyle.

Arjuna is waiting for me then we both run out the door, heading to the forest. Arjuna and I raced through the village, laughing as we went. We decided to race, sadly he won.

We get to the forest and I see the coolest thing ever. "How did you find them?" I ask

"They were here. I think one of them is hurt and the other doesn't want to leave. I don't know though" My brother answers

I nod and turn my gaze back to the night fury and skrill. I look closer at the dragons, trying to figure out what's wrong. Well, for one the night fury is missing a part of her right wing, not her tail fins but her actual wing, which is terrible, I don't know how she flew here; maybe the skrill carried her? They seem quite close, almost like siblings.

I look at their eyes and notice the weariness in them, I notice the way their moving; as if each movement takes up too much energy. "Look at them, they're exhausted. No wonder they don't wanna move, they're just tired. Way too tired." I mention

"What can we do? We both know I can't befriend them, I tried that already. You try, but if you can't what are we gonna do?" Arjuna says

I nod and slowly make my way towards the dragons. "Um, hi? I'm not gonna hurt you. I promise. I actually wanna help." I tell the dragons

They growl at me but I keep moving closer "I promise, I'm gonna help" I say as I move closer and closer.

There was this one time where a timberjack landed in the lake near this forest and I learned that you have to show the dragon that you have feelings too. That you're not afraid of them but you can also be just as afraid of them as they are of us.

I keep moving forward and once I get close enough I reach my hand out, not taking my eyes off the night fury. I start with the night fury because I feel as though I've known her forever, as though she's my best friend.

"It's okay." I say, bowing my head a bit to show respect.

She bows her head back to me as she leans into my touch. I smile and start softly petting her. "Do you have a name, girl?" I ask, she looks at me with curious eyes, titling her head a little bit.

"I'm gonna take that as a 'no' then." I assume, while laughing a little bit, she gurgles too and I smile even more.

"What about D/n? Does that work for you, missy?" I ask gently, d/n nods and starts wagging her tail tiredly.

She notices Arjuna behind me and gets ready to fire. My eyes widen at what she's about to do while I say "No! No, no, no. That's my brother, Arjuna. He's nice, I promise."

D/n looks at me with scepticism but then calms down. I look to the skrill and walk towards him and put my hand out. The skrills sniffs my hand, still unsure and looks back at D/n, who gives an encouraging nod.
