You and Me (Hiccup x Female Reader)

Chapter 1: Travels, Hunters and Home

Y/N POV

Dork and I have been travelling for 10 years. I'm 19 now. We've visited different villages, even though none are dragon-friendly. We've stayed for a day maybe three then vanish with our dragons.

We stop by the market every month or so to buy materials, spices, food, clothes and weapon material; we make our own weapons. Sometimes even a couple novels, sketch books and pencils.

Over the years, I've learned over two dozen fighting techniques, mastered the art of the bow and arrow, sword, double-sided axe, spear and daggers. Arjuna has gotten a lot better at art and has learned a dozen different fighting techniques and has gotten amazing at using axes, maces and bow and arrows.

I've made a flight suit when I was around 15 so that I can fly along side d/n sometimes, I made one for Arjuna too after he begged me too. When I was around 15, I also created two daggers that light up with fire and the daggers mimic D/n's night fury screech, it's really fun to scare people in the market place with a night fury sound, I mean, not that I would know (Read: I do it all the time).

Arjuna made an axe that comes back to him after he throws it, it's pretty cool. He is also a master healer now, he's amazing.

We've both gotten really good at cooking, once I got old enough, Arjuna taught me so it wasn't just him cooking for us all the time.

I've taught myself a bunch of new tricks with d/n and Dork has gotten used to Zap, his hair almost never stands on end anymore, I honestly think he's immune to lightning now.

Because of D/n's wing, that was one of the first things we handled after we found a home. I used a fabric mixed with a frame of gronkle iron and embedded crystals. I formed it in the shape of her wing. I attached it to my saddle so that when someone rides her (mainly me), she's able to fly. I'm currently working on a way to allow her to fly without my help.

We live in a certain cave that we always return to, it has our beds, a makeshift desk out of a flat rock, a kitchen in the middle which is basically just a fire pit where we cook our food and a table and a book shelf that I made for my dozens of books.

I learned that D/n is a unique night fury, her scales and eyes change depending on the time of day. She glows silver, her scales are white and her eyes are bright purple (Or f/c) during the day and when it's night she's black as night, she glows gold and her eyes are teal (Or f/c).

Sometimes me and Arjuna think back to our home village, we wonder what happened. Who became chief? How are our parents? Have they made peace with dragons?

Even though we think about them, we never, ever would go back in a million years. Me and Dork have enjoyed our time with our dragons. We haven't really socialised with anyone but each other for at least a decade but we're okay with it.

I wouldn't want to grow up with anyone other than my brother, even if he's a knucklehead at times.

When I was 14 and he was 19, we saw dragon hunters enslaving dragons. We attacked the ship and freed the dragons and boom! We were new enemy of most vikings. The 'Swindling Riders' they called us, 'the most infuriating people in the archipelago'. I was the 'Dragon King', the 'Dragon Whisperer' and many others.

It was actually really flattering other than the fact that they thought I was boy, but who cares. Dork had a bunch of names but one of his favourites was the 'Dragon Man' because it's so stupid. It makes him laugh every time, that's why he loves it so much.

I look at the position of the sun and figure out that it's about the time of day dragon hunters are transferring dragons. I yell "COME ON DORK! LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOOO!" to wake my older brother from his afternoon nap.

He bolts up and looks at the clock we made together, "3:00 o'clock!??! Why didn't you wake me up?" He asks as he grabs his mask and he mounts Zap.

I shrug, "You didn't ask", I reply mounting D/n and pulling up my own mask.

We ride in comfortable silence, speeding towards the predictable dragon hunter ship. D/n lets out a screech while she shoots out a plasma blast, hitting one of the ships, shaking it so half of the men fall off board.

D/n flies over to the boat and I jump off, lighting my daggers and sliding down the sail, ripping it as I fall down.

Arjuna and Zap shock the other ship sinking and causing ruckus on board. The two of them dive down and free all the dragons on board.

D/n and I finish the last ship off by freeing all the dragons and then we fly off, D/n shoots a plasma blast that sinks the ship immediately.

"CURSE YOU DRAGON MAN AND DRAGON KING!" Arjuna and I hear as we fly away, making us laugh.

D/n flies away and I jump off her, activating my flight suit. I fly alongside my dragon, as our island comes in sight, I fly over d/n's back and black flip onto it, landing in crouch position and then sitting down.

"You're such a showoff N/N!" Arjuna yells at me, humour in his eyes after he pulls off his mask.

"What can I say? I have a dramatic flair Arjun!" I joke back after pulling down my own mask.

We laugh and land on our island, we walk to the cave and I drop my mask and swords. I look at the time, 5:45pm, "I'm going to get some fish, any objections?" I ask, knowing we should have dinner soon. I'm pretty sure there's gonna be no objections as we haven't had fish in over a week.

We like to switch it up, sometimes we'll have fish, sometimes yak and sometimes just vegetables. "Nah, just bring back enough. And be careful. And don't die!" Arjun says, not looking up from his sketch book.

I nod and grab my bow and arrow and the fish bag, running out of the cave. I stalk through the woods towards the river, I knock an arrow and release it, impaling three fish at once. I do this a couple more times, until I have 20 in general. That should be enough, Dork and I only need three between the two of us, the rest the dragons can have.

I place all the fish into the fish bag and get back to the cave. Arjuna grabs his axe and looks up, seeing if there is an intruder, once he's sees it's me, he settles down and goes back to sketching.

"Help me gut the fish or I'll put the fish down your shirt while you sleeping." I jokingly threaten.

"I would have helped you anyways, no need for violence!" he jokes back

About 10 minutes later, we have our 3 fish gutted, the dragons don't need them gutted since they eat them raw and we are about to cook them

"Alright Zap or D/n light 'em up." I say, pointing to the fire pit.

D/n obliges, shooting her white fire at the fire pit, successfully igniting it, I set the fish on one stick each, after seasoning them, slowly turning till they're cooked.

We eat, talking about the plans for tomorrow and how dumb the dragon hunters are, "Like seriously! How have they not figured out I'm a girl yet!?" I ask in disbelief, "I have no idea but it's hilarious!" Arjuna replies, "Oh shut up, Arju!"

After we dinner we then dispose the fish insides and bones.

Then we just relax, me reading a book after sharpening my swords, daggers and arrows. Dork relaxing by cleaning and sharpening his axe and mace then going back to drawing.

Around 10:00 Arjun and I, with the help of our dragons, move the rocks to close the 'door' for our cave. We dim down the fire and head to bed.

Life's pretty good right now, nothing could be better.
