...Five Days Later...Walking cautiously on top of familliar cliffs at the outskirts of their yard. With a wisful glance, Marshall proceeded to approach the ledge, upon arriving at the top, the dal could hear the faint sounds of water crashing against the cliff's rocks, the waves of the vast emerald ocean sway in an unpredictable sync, catching the faded aroma of the salty breeze that blew pass him, sending a slight shivers onto his spine. The dazzle of the setting sun burns the clouds from the vast horizon into an open orange flame with hues of scarlet, while silhouettes of birds flying, some raced passed the cotton-candy clouds, creating melodies of peace. His eyes were focused on the horizon, resting his lower half onto the ground, through the fear, sadness and guilt, Marshall still can't help but form a faint smile at the scenery before him, a droplet of a single tear shed through his eyes.
As the windy breeze from the vast horizon passes by him once again, the dal twitched his ears, stopping the formation of tears that was begging to break free. The dal turned his head from side to side only to find nothing before returning to his gaze onto the vast once again, "Must've been the wind." he mumbled no louder than a whisper. With a heavy sigh, and a deep breath, the white pup closed his eyes, a smile of reminiscent formed on his maw, as the essence of nostalgia creep onto his spine, this time, he was now able to release the tears his been holding back, remembering the time when they used to spend time together on this very cliff, drowning all their problems onto the ocean waters, sharing secrets and the things they've done for each day.
"Maarrsshhaall!" a familliar voice shouted playfully from behind.
The sound of the familliar voice made Marshall flinch from his spot, he was now sure that he wasn't hearing things, turning his head towards the voice, he was suddenly tackled by a barreling brown figure towars the ground, "Owww." the dal mumbled, laying on the grass, the shepherd laying underneath him, their fur touching in warmth, "C-Chase?" Marshall said in disbelief as he open his eyes, looking straight into Chase's caramel brown ones, "C-Chase... is that really you... wait... before that... why are you here... h-how.. w-when did you get out of the hospital?!" the dal stuttered.
Marshall's thoughts were interrupted as a pair of arms wrapped itself around the dal's neck, pulling him to an embraced before rolling at the opposite side, this time, the shepherd was now on top of him, "My bad Marshall, I tripped on something.. hehe.. I guess we're both the clumsy pups now, huh?" he joked, laughing, before putting his nose on top of Marshall's nose, connecting them in the moment, causing the dal to widen his eyes in embarrassment, a small scarlet hue forming in his maw, "And.. the thing is... I wasn't released... I just.. well... how do you say it... escaped... as quiet as a mouse, you taught me that, remember? hehe.. I kinda missed you." Chase smiled,
"Yeah.. Chase.. but still-" Marshall was suddenly cut off, by a paw tracing down at the part beneath his eyes, causing Chase's smile to fade, baring a worried expression, "Were you crying again?" the brown pup inquired, finally removing his contact from Marshall, sitting besides the dal, Marshall did the same, simply nodding in response, averting contact with the shepherd's eyes.
"You've been blaming yourself again, didn't you?" Chase stated, putting up a sympathetic smile.
Marshall can't hold it back anymore, aa he began to sob, his eyes finally releasing the tears that his been holding back, flowing through his eyes like a sudden waterfall, yet Marshall attempts to wipe them dry, "Of course I am!" he responded, "...it's because... you almost died because of me.. it's all my fault! I wouldn't know what to do if you really died Chase!" the dal sobbed, crying like a helpless baby, until, his tears were suddenly stopped as a brown figure pulled his body into an embraced, wrapping both his arms onto Marshall's white figure, "Even still... I'm here right? You don't have to worry about anything now." Chase explained, causing the dal to feel nostalgic, before burying his face onto the shepherd's chest while continuing to sob, yelling his name in glee and sadness numerous times, 'Somehow... I feel like this happened in the past before..' he thought, as he recalls the time when Chase had comforted him.
