So, needless to say, I was emotional destroyed by volume 8. I will not elaborate for the sake of others, but I'm probably going to find a hole to cry. Welcome to Volume 6 people, the pain is on.
Chapter 21: All Aboard
The train station was bustling with activity as the hour drew near for the Argus Limited to leave. It had been a month since the battle at Haven and two weeks since the events of Treecaster. (Y/N), freshly healed from the wounds he had sustained in Rite of Combat against Acirus, flew after Ruby as they excitedly rushed through the station, baring gifts for their friends. He was also sporting a new, modest messenger bag, which Noodle could be seen peaking out of.
"Hey, what's with the running?" Qrow called after them as Ruby rushed past him as he was sending a message.
"What's with the standing?" Ruby called back. "It's almost time!"
"Keep up, Ruby!" (Y/N) yelled over his shoulder.
Using her Semblance, Ruby raced her younger brother back to the group. As they came to a stop (neither willing to admit they'd lost) they both hummed happily, getting the rest of the team's attention.
"And?" Yang asked.
"Ta dah!" (Y/N) yelled as Ruby presented a bag of goodies.
Weiss tilted her head away. "What an absolute waste of time-,"
Yang cut her off. "What did you get me?"
"You'll have to wait and see." Ruby teased, sticking her tongue out before throwing the bag to (Y/N) as Yang tried to grab it
"Oh I can't believe we're taking the train to Argus!" Nora said excitedly. "The beautiful northern coastline....you think it's beach season?"
"Unfortunately, but we will be one step closer to Atlas." Ren cut in.
Weiss was not thrilled. "Well, I'm glad you're all excited, but I don't think you appreciate the trouble I went through to leave Atlas."
"I know you're worried, Weiss, but trust us." Ruby assured. "Team RWBY won't leave your side for a second! I promise."
"I'll set anyone who messes with you on fire!" (Y/N) offered.
Weiss worriedly ruffled his hair. "That's nice sweetie, but let's try to avoid arson charges."
"No one's gotta be worried with us around." A voice cut in. The group turned to see two unimpressive males approach.
"And you are?" Nora asked.
"Why Dee and Dudley of course. The Argus Limited'd very own Huntsmen. We'll be keeping everyone safe as we pass through Grimm territory."
"But for a generous tip, we can make sure your passenger car gets extra special attention should things get dangerous."
(Y/N) gagged, and Ruby and Yang seemed just as annoyed. Luckily Qrow appeared.
"Yeah, I got a tip for you, buzz off." He stood in front of his nieces, who began taunting the two men, his hands in his pockets. "Looks like Mistral's really scrapping the bottom of the barrel these days."
"Hey, you're talking to a-,"
Qrow held up his Scroll which had his license on display. "A professional Huntsman, right? Well, it seems, like one of you heroes left the staff entrance to the caboose wide open." The two glanced away, shocked. "It'd be a shame to lose your job before it even started."
"I didn't do it!"
"Come on, dummy."
"Morons." (Y/N) muttered as they walked away.
Oscar nodded, agreeing with the younger male. "You know, sometimes the burden of saving the world feels overwhelming, but then people like that come along and make me grateful it's our job and not theirs."
Everyone nodded in agreement.
"So, you kids ready to go? Bike all loaded up?" Qrow asked.
"Yup!" Yang answered.
Weiss added in. "Just waiting on Blake, as usual."
Blake was saying goodbye to Sun and her friend Ilia. (Y/N) had interacted Ilia quite a bit in the last month, and he liked her, and it was nice to see Sun and Neptune again, and meet Blake's parents.
(Timeskip)
Once everyone had boarded, they settled into their room. Considering the layout, it reminded (Y/N) of Beacon a bit. Weiss sat on the lower bunk reading as Ruby and (Y/N) played a video game together (Weiss let him borrow her Scroll). Yang was reading a magazine on the other top bunk while Blake gazed out the window.
"All right girls and little brother, I think it's time for an official team exercise." Ruby chided in as (Y/N) won that round of the game. "Who wants to play video games?"
"(Y/N) kicking your butt?" Yang asked as the dragon laughed.
"Yup!"
"All right, let me grab my Scroll."
Yang moved over to her bag, reaching for it as Blake ran to help.
"Here, let me help you with that."
Yang backed away as the cat Faunus pulled it down, nearly taking (Y/N) messenger bag down too. Needless to say, the blonde wasn't very appreciative.
"Blake, you don't have to do that."
"I don't know what you're talking about." (Y/N) frowned, knowing she was lying just by how her ears flattened.
"I'm fine, we're gonna be fine. It's just gonna be a bit before things are back to normal. But," she smiled. "I am glad we're all back together."
Blake cheered up a bit as Ruby, (Y/N), and Weiss all smiled from behind Yang. She nodded.
"Yeah, okay."
"How touching." Qrow chimed in.
"Oh, hey uncle Qrow!" Ruby greeted. "You wanna play to?"
He chuckled. "Kick your butts? Sure."
"Bring it on, old man." (Y/N) challenged.
Before Qrow could answer back, the train lurched, knocking his drink from his head and forcing  (Y/N) to grab the bedpost with his tail as to not fall off the bunk.
"What was that?" Yang asked, as (Y/N) heard the sound of Grimm approaching.
"Exactly what it sounds like." Weiss answered as Blake's ears flattened again.
"Just my luck."
"It's not your." Qrow assured, looking out the window. "Grab your weapons!"
Everyone jumped into actions, following Qrow's order and then following him to the top of the train car. It was cold and snowing, (Y/N)'s least favorite weather, and a flock of Manticores, led by a Sphinx, were circling the two (morons) Huntsmen from earlier. The Sphinx landed and roared as Dee charged him, only to be immediately plucked up and carried off by a Manticore.
"(Y/N)!" Qrow yelled, as the boy was already taking off.
"On it!"
(Y/N) flew after Manticore as a few others followed after him. Luckily, it didn't take him long to catch up to the Grimm as it was weighed down by the man. He weaved and attacked the ones following at him so they wouldn't get in his way when he flew back, striking at their wings so they'd fall. Then he went after the one holding Dee. The creature screeched as he landed on its back and sunk his blades into it. It dropped Dee and as (Y/N) dove after him, he finished off the Manticore with a fire blast. The Huntsman screamed as he fell, but right before he hit the ground, (Y/N) grabbed the collar of his shirt, using Yang's charm in order to actually carry the idiot back to the train. Dee was obviously freaked out by the flying child that was carrying now.
"What are you, you-!?"
"Finished that sentence, and I drop you." The boy threatened, shutting the male up.
(Y/N) managed tossed him, none too gently, back onto the train, before flying to rejoin the fight. By this time, the train's defenses and turrets had turned on and were firing, nearly hitting him as he barreled away, and Team JNR and Oscar had joined in the fight. He raced in to help Oscar, who the Manticores were swiping at. He landed a gravity shot, launching one into the cliff side, before helping the farm boy to his destination.
"Stop! You've gotta shut the turrets off!" Oscar yelled at Dudley, who was taking pot shots.
"Are you crazy? No way! Yes! Another one down!"
"Stop! We have to lure them to the back!" Oscar insisted.
"What does it matter if they're dead?"
"The passengers, you moron!" (Y/N) yelled.
Suddenly, the Grimm pulled back in a seeming retreat.
"Where are they going?" Dudley asked.
Oscar turned and shouted. "Tunnel!"
The low hanging tunnel was fast approaching. Oscar and (Y/N) shot forward, sliding just in time to get between the cars. Dudley was so lucky as (Y/N) heard him scream and bones crack. Both boys ran back inside to get to the other side of the car and pull him in. He was lucky his entire arm was still intact. The others (along with Dee) quickly joined them as Oscar and (Y/N) were trying to calm him down. Qrow growled, picking him up.
"I said, turn those damn things off!"
"Those things are keeping us alive!" Dee argued, trying to push Qrow off his partner, only for (Y/N) to step between them.
"They're making everyone else a target!"
"We're the ones they hired for this job, okay?" Dudley yelled back at the boy. "We're in charge here!"
"Hey, your buddy here would be Grimm chow if the kid didn't fly after he, so forgive me if I'm not exactly reassured.
Before the argument between the four could escalate, Ruby stepped in, getting her uncle off Dudley.
"Please just shut off the turrets."
Dudley and Dee were unconvinced until Jaune placed a hand on Dee's shoulder.
"Trust us, we know what we're doing." He then amplified Dudley's Aura, healing him.
The two Huntsmen looked at each other and then at the kids before Dee nodded, unsure. Dudley gritted his teeth.
"Fine."
"Ren, could you use your Semblance to mask everyone on the train?" Nora asked. "With the guns off and emotions hidden, they might loose track of us."
"I've never attempted to affect this many people."
"Well you've never had Jaune's help before." Ruby pointed out.
"And maybe your charm may not be as strong as your Semblance, but even a calming effect could help." (Y/N) added (AN: Ren's charm does not allow (Y/N) to hide his or others emotions, but it does help mellow people out).
As everyone agreed to the plan, Oscar, now controlled by Ozpin, stepped forward.
"I'm afraid there's one complication." He motioned to the relic attached to his waist. "The Grimm are also attracted to this."
"What's that?" Dee asked.
"None of your business." Qrow shot back. "Oz, are you serious?"
"Why wouldn't you tell us that!" Yang demanded.
"I-,"
Ruby cut him off. "It doesn't matter right now. Every second we're on board this train, we're putting everyone else in danger." Ruby looked to Ren and Nora. "Get the passengers to the front cars. You'll still mask the emotions and kill the turrets. We just can't come with you. If we cut the back cars with us and the relic on them, we can deal with the Grimm. You just make sure the rest of the train makes it safely to Argus."
Jaune walked up to her.
"Only if you'll promise you'll meet us there."
She smiled and nodded. "Promise. (Y/N), go with them."
"No way!" He yelled. "I'm the only one here who can fight them in the air. No offense, Qrow."
"None taken."
"(Y/N), you don't do well in the cold." Weiss tried to explain.
He shook his head.
"I can breathe fire. I'll be fine."
Knowing he wasn't gonna budge, they accepted his answer and Team JNR started the evacuation, while Blake cut the cars as the rest of the group ready to fight. Ruby signaled for Jaune and Ren to hide the train as they began to battle off the Grimm. (Y/N) stuck by Oscar to give him a hand as he had no ranged attacks (that he knew of) with his cane. The two tag teamed the largest of the Manticores together, (Y/N) keeping the stinger busy while Oscar laid into it. It pulled back to fire a shot at them, but (Y/N)'s wings stopped the attack, as he launched his own fiery offensive which the Grimm was not resistant to. As it dissolved, he saw Yang and Blake holding the Sphinx down as Weiss froze its wings. Flying in for an assist, he shattered the first wing with a punch before destroying the other with a tail strike. The creature roared as he skidded to landing by Qrow, who nodded in approval. Ruby and Qrow then rushed in with their scythes, slicing the creature in half, but not before it launched a fireball in front of the cars. He flew up as Weiss used gravity glyphs to keep everyone in place as the train went off the tracks, crashing into the snow with a thunderous roar. Swooping down at the wreck, he was relieved to see everyone was alright.
"Everyone okay?" Qrow asked.
"I'm fine." Weiss answered back.
"Yeah." Yang agreed as she Ruby helped her up.
(Y/N) went over to Blake and helped her to her feet as an unfamiliar voiced called out.
"Still alive!"
From the cart, a small old woman with a cane emerged, looking quite satisfied with herself. "That sure was a close one, huh?"
