"Ced," I laughed as he put an arm over my shoulder. "We should head back; my mother will have a fit,"
"You are with me though," He leaned close so that my head was pressed against him. "No safer place for you,"
"Not even my mother,"
"Your mother once describes a three-headed dog as 'safe as a cloud,'" Ced countered.
"He was,"
"You had to go to the infirmary,"
"For a week," I rolled my eyes, "The petrified students were there longer,"
"May," Ced looked down at me and rolled his eyes. "Face it, the only time something doesn't happen to you is when I catch you,"
"I will admit," I sighed. "You have pulled me out of ... a lot,"
"Who saved you from Peeves last year,"
"You,"
"And who saved you when you almost were taken by the infamous Sirius black,"
I rolled my eyes, knowing the truth. "That one doesn't count,"
"At that point," He knew some of the truth. "We all thought he was out for blood and ready to use you to get to him,"
I sighed. Remembering the day first severe found me.
"Just like your mother... except the eyes... those must be your fathers,"
Like so many others, Sirius did not know my father's identity, but then I became obsessed with finding him. Despite Ced's best efforts, I kept looking.
With the help of two redheads and Potter
"The first time he came... I am glad you were there. I will admit," I said. "But I am perfectly capable of getting myself in and out of trouble as I please,"
"I am just saying with me, you don't have to do it so much,"
I shrugged as we turned to the corner, "I like having you around, Ced. We both know that"
He squeezed me for a moment before letting me go to the door, "So, how was our first date?" He teased.
"Technically," I turned to him slowly, "This is our second date,"
"Right," He nodded. "Hogsmead,"
I smirked as he reached for my hand. Something in my stomach twisted, and the image of George rushed through my mind.
But this was Ced. Not only was he independent of George, and the idea that he would feel something for me, was a joke, honestly.
"The second date, is there a kiss?" He asked.
He rose to my face as I searched his eyes for the punchline. "Pretty sure that is the third..."
Cedric nodded but stepped closer, "Guess we need one more,"
"What do you think your dad has planned for us," I smiled; it was a joke. It had to be a joke. I would not read into this. I WOULD NOT.
"Marriage, probably," Cedric shrugged.
"Oh god, you weren't joking about the fireworks, were you?"
Cedric laughed before letting go of my hand and walking to the door, "You will find out,"
Once inside a house-elf came up to me. "Letter for you,"
I looked down and smiled. "I think this is Ginny," I walked to the table and sat by the lamp. "Mind if I read it-"
