MAISIE POV

"So... do you have it?" Draco asked as I dropped my things onto the free chair.

"I just got here,"

"And I'm three days late for this," Draco replied. "We all have our schedules,"

I rolled my eyes and dropped Mad eye's notes. "Fork over the study guide now,"

"Already on the chair,"

I turned, and sure enough, it was there, waiting for me. "Oh- that was fast,"

"Well, I had the time," Draco sneered. "You were supposed to be here fifteen minutes ago,"

"When did we start planning these?" I tilted my head, not sure what was more insane; the fact that it made sense for us to plan our meeting time or that we were at a point to schedule it.

Sometimes I had to look around and ask what the fuck happened to get me here.

"We ... didn't, but this has just become routine,"

"Oh, so we didn't even need to plan," I scoffed. This keeps getting weirder.

Draco shrugged but was too busy to look up from our shared work. I reached down and took my own material, and began to study.

"So which one kept you,"

"What?" I raised an eyebrow, heat rushing to my face. "I-"

"Your friends, which one were you running around with," Draco raised an eyebrow, but it was clear he was too smug with himself for this to be an accident.

"That is not what you meant," I hissed.

"No," Draco smiled. "Is this what it is like getting one up on you? Now I see why Weasley number two did that all the time,"

"I wasn't even with him,"

"So Cedric then?"

My cheeks flared, but I let myself relax. Strangely enough, Draco didn't seem to judge what I was up to.

"Cedric is fine; we were studying,"

"So you just moved places to study,"

"Why is it your business?" I leaned back and sighed dramatically.

"It's not, but you were late, and you suck at lying," Draco shrugged. "So I thought I would pry,"

"Right," I said. Focusing on my book. "Cedric doesn't have the study guide,"

"But he could have tutored you," Draco pressed.

"Do... Do you want me to leave?"

"No," Draco shot his head up and looked at me like I said something ridiculous, "I just want you to admit you were late because you were snogging your boyfriend,"

"He is not my boyfriend,"

"But you were snogging him,"

"Everyone knows about that, Mom," I looked back down at my work. Was I relieved? "But this time we were trying to find a spot-"

"Oversharing now," Draco grimaced at the thought.

"Everyone in this school needs to swim a lap in the black lake," My fingers pressed in my forehead as if to soothe the pain of stupidity. "Not for that, to figure out this riddle,"

"Right," Draco said, nodding. "And a lap might do some of the students here good; the mermaids would get a few of them,"

"Draco, you were just getting less insufferable," I leaned back in my chair and turned to the window. "Mermaids don't drown people all the time,"
