My eyes were so intently focused on the manga that was in front of me, I didn’t notice when the prestigious car made a halt where I usually get out at.
“Aihara-san, I think I’m..”
My head bends towards the book, getting eager to read what was next.
“I think I’m..”
Right when I’m about to turn the page, Busen’s booming low voice breaks my train of thought.
“Ms. Kagiwara, we have arrived.”
And almost immediately after he pushes the car forward with a jolt so that the manga would fall from my hands and down to the bottom of the car like he always did when I was too wrapped upin my mangas.
“Yes, Busen.” I moaned, trying to hide the more than evident anger in my voice.
I bent down to pick up my book and opened the door to the car, getting out and then slamming the door.
Within seconds of standing in front of the car, Busen pulled out and speedily made his way down the road as if I weren’t even worth his time.
Nevertheless, I turned around and began to walk by myself like I did ever since time itself, I looked back down and opened my manga and just as I expected Notoki did get with Kotoko.
My heart beat increased by a million when I saw that the cute couple I was rooting for finally kissed each other- even after they were married.
Even though my brain said that something like this is impossible, my heart spoke over it saying that I wish it would happen to me.
I passed the open gate of the school, following after other students who wore the Seiyo Elementary uniform. I did not notice the massive hole that was indented a few feet away from the walkway that lead on to the campus.
Once my boots met the dirt, I felt myself tip over, about to fall over the caution sign and into the hole when a construction worker breaks my fall. I could see he unintentionally grabbed me passionately, cradling with his gloves and hairy sweaty man arms.
In the background, I could hear faint giggles, from all who saw.
My face lit red and I quickly got back on to my feet, bending down politely once I neatened myself. “I’m sorry.” I vocalized.
The gross arm-pit smelling man responded with a friendly salute. “No problem, just be careful next time.” He said, giving a toothy grin, which I tried to give a smile in return but just came out as uncomfortable.
I turned around, closing my manga, and continued to walk to where they usually came out at.
“The Guardians..” I whispered softly, my eyes sparkling.
Grabbing my camera, I began to reboot it like usual after I charge it when I saw head of pink hair in my peripheral vision. I slowly lowered my camera.
Hinamori Amu didn’t have much of a threatening, cool-like aura today- not that she ever did for me. The girl seemed to have more of an uneasy air to her, something unlike her.
I dropped my camera and walked over to where she was currently at, strolling towards the entrance. Her once nervous expression became animated when she noticed me walking over.
The hand she had on her messenger bag flap had been immediately removed.
“Hinamori-san!” I called out to her as my speed began to pick up and as did her own when she saw me.
"Wh-Wait up!” I said again, I was now chasing after here backside. Getting closer, I managed to grab the flap and unclasp it and reveal all that was inside of the bag.
Amu halted where she stood, her face igniting with anxiousness.
Right there in her bag laid three eggs; red, blue, and green, in a pink cloth. Each of them had a sign representing the shapes on a playing card; the heart, the spade, and the club.
Amu struggled to reclasp her bag as the big-eyed, mouth open expression stayed on my face. Once Amu was done closing her bag properly and carefully, she took me by the arm and pulled me over to the bushes in a hurry where no one could see us.
She looked on each side of us before leaning in towards me with a contorted frown. “Listen, no one hears about this, okay?!” Amu said in sotto voce. She held a protruding finger in between out faces.
“I don’t want to hear anything about me laying eggs!”
A blank expression on my face, I parted my lips to say something.
“You not the only Hinamori-san.” I grabbed the bottom of my blazer and bent it backwards to reveal my 3 faberge eggs and a blank egg.
Amu sprung backwards to astonishment at the sight of my eggs. “You.. You have them too?!” The pinkette sputtered.
“I woke up with them this morning.” I unhooked the sun faberge egg from the key chain and looked at it up close. “They’re really nice, ‘eh?” I commented staring wistfully at the egg,
Amu was taken aback at the illustrious appearance of my eggs but then edged closer to where it was. “Nice?!” She blurted out. “They’re anything but nice? Do we even know what’s inside of them?”
“I’d imagine a baby chicken.” I looked over to Hinamori-san with a faint joking smile on my face but in response, her face only paled.
“A baby chick..? How did I give birth to a baby chicken?”
“I deserve them.” I stated, out of the blue. Amu’s golden eyes snapped to me, laced with confusion.
“Deserve them? What do you mean?”
I gave a soft sigh before hooking the egg back on to my key chain. “I wished upon stars.. Last night.” I said, looking off into the distance but soon snapping at of it by Amu’s prolonging gaze, it seemed she was off into another world as well.
“I suppose we have to be in this together, right?” I said blankly, looking over to her. “After all, we are two mother hens.” I joked again.
Amu gave a small nod in response and almost in unison we gave each other a smile.
The moment didn’t last too long when the shrieking of students caught our attention. Giving a gasp, I ran to the scene and put my camera in my grip. I knew what it was..
“Look, look over there!” A blonde fangirl yelled, pointing to the scene. Her friend who stood next to her shrieked.
“Ah, it’s the prince!”
