“Look, look over there!” A blonde fangirl yelled, pointing to the scene. Her friend who stood next to her shrieked.

“Ah, it’s the prince!”

There striding, behind the hoard of students in flowing red capes and straight, authoritative expression. Walked the..

 “THE SEIYO ELEMENTARY SCHOOL GUARDIANS!!”

The two girls wailed at once.

I lifted up my camera, furiously snapping pictures of the Guardians from different angles. Their peaceful auras and the bright sun illuminated the pictures making them look like other-worldly gods and godesses.

“I want to be one.” I muttered to no one in particular, after all- it was the only way to get my mother to finally recognize that I’m worth her time.

I was so wrapped up in taking pictures, I didn’t notice Amu beside me admiring the boy in the King’s position. I lowered my camera and stared wistfully at the blonde prince.

“He works as the ‘King’s Chair’ Guardian.” One of the girl’s commented when she noticed us gazing at him.

“Hotori Tadase.” I whispered his name to Amu.

Amu blinked and looked over to me but I didn’t bother to look back and just lifted my camera again, snapping pictures.

“He looks cool today too~!” The other girl squealed.

The two of them bundled together close to us and swooned over the boy. “The prince is such a great guy..”

 “He’s nice-“

I gripped my camera harder causing my photos to appear shaky.

 “He’s smart…”

 My teeth became gritted.

 "He can do anything~!”

I dropped my camera, letting it fall over my chest.

“..And he looks girly.” I sneered, my eyebrows furrowing in anger. The two fangirls looked over to me and gasped in unison.

“Does not!” One of them countered. The other one stepped forward to speak

“He’s just the right size! He doesn’t have to bend down to kiss you~!”

“Yeah, but wouldn’t you like a guy who’s tall, lean, and quiet. Rock solid but soft at his core~.. A guy that towers over you and cradles you like he should?” I soon began to go all shoujo fangirl, pressing my hand to my heart and looking off into the distance.

The two girls just stared at me with dissatisfied expressions, both with crossed arms.

“Hotori-kun is actually real and ten times better, right Hinamori-san?” We all turned to Amu who was still gazing dreamily at the prince.

“Huh, uh me?” Amu blinked out of her trance and looked over to us. She was clearly uncomfortable being put on the spot like that, but our staring pushed her to speak. Amu sucked in a breath and I braved myself for one of her rants.

“No.. Not in particular? Why should I like some stuffy guardian?” She ranted and a smile came upon my lips, even though I knew it was an act and Hotori-kun really did enchant her.

“Whoa.. Hinamori-san really is mature..” The bunned girl fangirled and so did her friend. “Cool and spicy!!”

They saw my comment as rude but saw Amu’s comment as ‘cool and spicy’, that’s some magic she’s got there. I laughed softly at their automatic reactions to one of her bold comments.

 “What’s a Guardian?”

All at once the three of us turned to Amu with shocked faces, she hadcome to the school 3 months ago and she had not yet figured out- more or less seen the Guardians.

Nevertheless, I took a step out to speak, pushing up my glasses in the nerdiest way I could.

“Once a year, four people are elected. There are four positions: King’s Chair, Queen’s, Jack’s, and Ace’s Chair. There are rumors that when the school makes a harsh regulation.. They are seen as somewhat high officials in Seiyo and protect the student body.  Hence the name; The Guardians.”

I spoke, dramatically looking off into the distance. I was determined to be elected into the Guardians since one of them are graduating next year.

“After school.. They have a tea party in the ‘Royal Garden’” The dark haired fangirl added, the both of them swooning. I, too, wore a smile upon my face.

“Yes, yes! And the best part..”

“ONLY A GUARDIAN CAN WEAR THAT ROYAL CAPE!!”  They squealed in unison while I just watched them in awe. I wasn’t really a fan of the cape, it seemed like it only separated you from the rest student body instead of not wearing them and assuring that you were one of them.

The two girls blabbered on bout the capes, but it showed on both me and Amu’s face that we weren’t to excited about wearing a cape.

The girls went on each side of Amu, completely blocking me out of their conversation which I took politely and waited off into the side.

“That would look really good on you, Hinamori-san!” I heard the faint giggle of the fangirls as I walked away. I wanted to get more pictures of the cape.

I followed the Guardians on the sidelines, taking more enchanting and attractive pictures of the council. I then stopped and pressed a button to look at snapshots of the picture. Oh! That one was really good!

I stopped at a picture with just the King’s Chair in it- he does wonders for pictures. My eyes glowed with delight- I wanted to get more of him, but his figure was gradually walking past me. I could never walk up to him and ask him for a picture.

 How weird would that be?

Lifting my camera again, I sped up and walked closer as they strode, the defective zoom buttons on my camera not working ever since forever.

I edged closer and closer until I got just the right lighting until someone who stood behind me jolted forward at just the right time that my camera falls from my grip and my strap breaks. The Nikon device hitting the ground with a clatter.

This caused the King’s Chair to put a halt in his step to look over at me, then switched his gaze to my broken camera on the ground.

I froze, he must’ve realized that I was taking a picture of his- this was way past school polices to be taping a student without their permission.

I cringed when the prince began to stride over to where I stood causing gasps to erupt from the hoards of students who were watching them in a clutter of noise prior to when they stopped walking.

I silently prayed he wouldn’t hold grudges- I messed up my chance of being a Guardian before even being elected. Once he got over to me her stopped seemingly surveying me with his narrowed eyes, blush feigning my expression. Did he want me to pick it up?

Thinking that he wanted me to take action, I bent down at the same time as he did and picked up my broken camera the exact same time as well. Each of out hands held separate parts of the camera.

I faces shot up to look at each other in unison, and pretty soon an unsuitable light blush came upon his skin. Just at that moment, blue met magenta. I quickly let go of the camera and as we both looked back down, I had realized that  my eggs were slightly peeking out of my blazer.

“No way..” I whispered, finally breaking the silence between me and Hotori-san.

“Kirei..”

I said with widened eyes, to which he nervously parted eye contact with me. Standing up straight, I nervously raced behind a wall where no one could find me.

 What did I do?
