I slowly pulled the phone from my ear and flipped it down so that it would be off. I set it down on my work table then took my camera, wrapping the strap around my neck once again. I slipped on some old flip flops and made my way outside through the front door and down my steps.

This is where I could get a clear view of the stars by my large house, the bright beings scattered the night sky and twinkled like beautiful diamonds. In an array of different colors and different assortments. They reminded me of spinning dancers.

I immediately lifted up my Nikon camera and snapped pictures like crazy. A grin spread across my lips, looking at the stars made my chest feel light. Like no matter what I was put on this Earth to dedicate to my life to the stars.

Suddenly, a streak of light danced across my eyes, I took in a sharp breath and the only thing I could mutter was.

 “Shooting star..”

My feet began to move forward towards the star, I didn’t want to let it go. I had to chase after it. My speed began to pick up and soon I found myself racing through an empty field of grass like a track star.

It was as if my life depended on that wish.

I was close to getting in front of the star when I tripped on my own feet and landed face down in grass. I used my hands to lift up my chest and as soon as my head was off of the ground I spit out grass that was in my mouth.

I quickly spun myself around to lay on my back and searched through the sky to find the shooting star.

 It wasn’t there anymore.

I could feel tears welling up in my bottom eyelids as my lips contorted into a frown.

“I was so close..” I moaned, wiping my tears with my lanky arms. But they kept coming like a waterfall, one by one they dripped down my face. It was if all of the sadness and anger I had kept inside for so long in a box had bursted.

 “I’m such a loser.”

I closed my eyes, creasing my eyebrows and anger. But to my surprise when I opened them again, another shooting star passed by.

 Then another.

 And another followed after that.

“M-more?” I cried out. Was there actually more than one chance for me? A chance to re-new my heart and become someone different?

To become the person I truly am- or rather the person I want to be?

I sat up and pulled my feet to my chest in a fetal position. Closing my eyes shut and sagging my head I clasped my hands together.

I wish to be reborn as the person I want to be, the person I truly am.

While saying this I could hear a slightly lower voice say this the exact same time as me.

After a few moments of darkness, my eyes flickered open and I looked up to the sky. None of the shooting stars were seen in the sky.

All that remained were 3 prominent stars, the largest and brightest stars out of all of them.

A small smile was shown on my face. I felt as if the stars were saying..

There is more to come of your story.
