FIFTEEN

(The Test)

"I ACTUALLY STUDIED FOR THIS!"

Lucy Matthew's groaned in annoyance at the feeling of Shawn Hunter constantly tapping her shoulder with his pencil. Every time she would turn around to yell at him he would act all innocent like he wasn't doing anything. "Lucy!" Shawn whispered loudly. "What?" She replied sharply. "Can I cheat off of your paper?" He asked her curiously. She turned around as she glared at him. She flicked him in the head causing him to groan in annoyance. "Was that a yes?" Shawn asked her sharply. Lucy turned back around to the front of the classroom where Mr. Feeny was droning on and on about something. "Mr. Feeny! This test is the worst!" Shawn complained as he laid his head down on his desk. "Mr. Hunter I haven't handed the test out yet." Mr. Feeny replies in a sharp tone. Shawn looked down at his desk and realized there was no test in front of him. "Well we know it will be hard!" Cory yells defending his best friend. Shawn looked so confused causing Lucy to laugh at how adorable he looked.

Mr. Feeny handed out the test and everyone began working on it. Lucy felt a pair of eyes on her causing her to feel uneasy. Her eyes scanned the room before landing on Jack Sterling. He was staring at her so she sent him a small smile. He immediately smiled back as he pulled out a small sheet of paper and started writing on it. He passed the piece of paper to the person next to him. Shawn watched in disgust as the note made its way to Lucy. He hated the way Jack was looking at her and he was fighting the urge to walk over to him and punch his face into the ground. The moment the paper reached Lucy's hands Shawn snatched it out of her hand. There was no way Shawn was letting Lucy get hurt by Jack Sterling. "Hey!" Lucy yelled in disbelief. Shawn shoved the paper into his mouth as he started chewing it. "Are you insane?" Lucy asked him angrily as she stared at Shawn eating the note Jack had given her. Shawn shrugged innocently as he continued to chew the paper. "There is no chewing gum in my classroom.... Mr. Hunter.... spit it out!" Mr. Feeny yelled at Shawn. Shawn opened his mouth causing Lucy to gag as he spit the paper out on his desk. Mr. Feeny looked at the boy with disgust.

"Here's the note back." Shawn whispers to Lucy as he points to the now chewed note sitting on his desk. Lucy scoffs in annoyance as she turns away from him. "You are unbelievable." She mutters angrily. "I've been called that before.... mainly for my kissing skills though..." Shawn whispers flirtatiously. He watches as Lucy's eyes remain forward as she refuses to look at him. He smirked as her face got red causing him to lean back in his chair. His eyes scanned the room before landing on Jack who was glaring at him. Shawn shrugged his shoulders at him before turning his attention back to Lucy. Shawn zoned out after the test as he rested his head on his desk and his eyes remained on the girl sitting front of him. His mind instantly remembered what it felt like to kiss her. He knew it didn't count but he couldn't stop thinking about it. He had kissed many girls and yet Lucy was the one he couldn't seem to get out of his head. Mr. Feeny realized Shawn and Cory were not paying attention per usual. "Mr. Hunter! What was I just talking about?" Mr. Fenny asked Shawn. Shawns eyes remained on Lucy as he looked at her with dreamy eyes. "Lucy Matthew's." Shawn mutters in a mesmerized tone. The class erupted in laughter as Shawn snapped out of his daze.

Shawns face got red as Lucy turned to look at him in disbelief. Everyone was staring at him. His eyes landed on Cory who's mouth was dropped open. "I meant.... ask Lucy Matthew's that question." Shawn stutters nervously. "Well Mrs. Matthew's... explain to your friend what I was talking about!" Mr. Feeny says as he looks at Lucy. "Topanga looks like she wants to answer that!" Lucy yells as she points at her friend. Topanga starts going on and on about whatever Mr. Feeny was saying causing Lucy to sigh in relief. "I hope you know I hate you." Lucy tells Shawn as she turns to look at him. "Shut up.... you know you love me." Shawn teases her as he winks at her. Shawn and Lucy's eyes met and they could both sense the tension between each other. The bell rang causing them both to look away from each other. Lucy grabbed her backpack but her eyes landed on Jack standing next to her desk. "Sorry about the note...... apparently Shawn Hunter is a dog." Lucy tells him sarcastically. Jack laughed as he ran a hand through his hair. "It's all good..... the note basically just said that you looked good today." Jack tells her flirtatiously. Lucy smiled at his comment but it didn't make her feel any special way. What did make her feel special was when Shawn Hunter pushed past her to get to Jack.

"Jack...... get lost." Shawn tells him sharply. "Calm down Hunter.... I was just talking to Lucy." Jack replies in a cool tone. "Well you talked.... see ya..." Shawn replies defensively as he grabs Lucy's shoulder and yanks her away from the other boy. "If Lucy wants to talk to me she can! It's nice for her to talk to people who are actually equal to her." Jack tells him in a cocky tone. Shawn stops walking as he lets go of Lucy's arms. "What did you just say?" Shawn asked him a low tone. "I'm just saying.... she probably doesn't want to hang with trailer trash when she can have someone who lives in a nice neighborhood like her." Jack tells Shawn in a taunting tone. Shawn took a step closer to Jack so he was now towering over him. Lucy snuck in between them as she awkwardly laughed. She put her hands on Shawns chest as she tried to calm him down. She then turned to Jack who's eyes were on Shawn. "The only trash I see here is you." Lucy tells Jack sharply as she glares at him. "If you wanted me to like you... you wouldn't attack my friends." Lucy tells him angrily. Shawn smirked as he waved goodbye to Jack. Jack's  eyes locked with Lucy's as his face was inches away from hers.

Jack quickly forced his lips on Lucy. The moment Jack kissed Lucy she immediately pushed him off of her. "What the...." Before Lucy could even finish her sentence Shawn had tackled Jack onto the classroom floor. Lucy didn't even try to stop Shawn as she wiped her lips in disgust. She didn't think Jack could be such an asshole. "Touch her again and I will kill you." Shawn tells Jack through gritted teeth as he bends his arm backwards. Shawn was on top of the other boy as Jack tried to get away from him. "Hunter! Sterling! Break it up!" Mr. Feeny yelled at them. Mr Feeny and Mr. Turner sprinted into the classroom. Mr. Feeny pried Shawns body off of the other boy while Mr. Turner held Jack away from Shawn. "This isn't over!" Shawn yelled at the other boy in anger. Jack spit across the room at Shawn. "Have fun with trash!" Jack yelled at Lucy. "I am going to kill you!" Shawn screamed as she tried to get out of the teachers grip. Lucy unintentionally grabbed Shawns hand as she watched Jack get dragged out of the classroom. Shawn felt sparks go through his fingers at the feeling of Lucy holding his hand. "You warned me about him." Lucy mutters to Shawn. Shawn simply nodded as he looked over at Lucy.
