THIRTY TWO

(Late Night Conversations)

It was the last night at the Ski Lodge and everyone was exhausted from Skiing. Lucy on the other hand was wide awake. After everyone went to bed she snuck back into the lobby and sat near the window as she watched the snow fall. Her foot was killing her and she was sad she had to leave the next morning. "I knew you would be awake." A male voice says softly. Lucy turned her attention to the voice that belonged to Shawn Hunter. Lucy gave him a soft smile as she took in his appearance. He was in his pajamas and the sight of him made Lucy's heart start beating at a rapid speed. Lucy pats the spot next to her as she gestures for him to sit down. He sits down very close to her causing Lucy to feel more anxious. "It's beautiful out there." Shawn says softly as he gestures to the snow. Lucy nodded as she kept her attention out the window. Shawn couldn't help but keep his focus on Lucy. She always looked so beautiful to him and she always took him by surprise. It was like everytime he saw her she just kept getting more beautiful in his eyes and he hated it. He felt nervous around her and he never felt nervous around any girls.

"Why couldn't you sleep?" Lucy asks him curiously as she turns to look at him. Shawn knew the real reason why he couldn't sleep was because he wanted to hold Lucy in his arms but he wasn't about to admit that. "I wasn't tired... plus Cory snores." Shawn replies playfully. Lucy laughed as she imagined her brother snoring loudly. "I couldn't sleep because of my stupid foot." Lucy mumbles as she gestures to her foot that was currently propped up. "I'm so tempted just to smack your foot." Shawn says as a smirk forms on his face. "Don't!" Lucy yelled as she shoved his shoulder. "I won't." Shawn reassures her as a giggle leaves his lips. Lucy bit her lip to hold back the smile that was forming on her face at the sound of Shawn laughing. "Oh... I almost forgot..." Shawn says in an excited tone as he sprints out of the lobby. "Where are you going?" Lucy yelled but he was already far away. Lucy shook her head in disbelief and wondered why he left so quickly. Shawn came back a couple minutes later with a bag in his hand. "I was at the gift shop early... and I got you something." Shawn says softly as he hands her the bag.

"It's not even my birthday.... You didn't have to get me anything... I feel bad..." Lucy mutters as she looks down at the bag. "I just saw this and it reminded me of you... I knew I had to get you it.... you didn't need to get me anything." Shawn replies sharply. Lucy felt her heart flutter at the thought of Shawn thinking of her when he saw this gift. She also knew money was tight for him but he still chose to buy her something. "Is it an engagement ring?" Lucy asks him sarcastically. "Surprise!" Shawn yells jokingly. Lucy shakes her head as she reaches her hand into the bag. Shawn waited for her reaction as she pulled out a disposable camera. "Shawn..... you shouldn't have..." Lucy says as she examines the camera. "It's okay if you don't like it... I just remembered when we were kids you were always blabbing on and on about wanting a camera and wanting to be able to take pictures of big moments of your high school life and when I saw it at the gift shop, I immediately thought of you. I realized that you never bought yourself a camera." Shawn rambles on. "I love it... thank you." Lucy says softly as she wraps her arms around him. The gift was so thoughtful Lucy couldn't shake the smile off of her face. Shawn felt unable to breathe as he held onto Lucy. He loved hugging her.

She slowly pulled away as she looked down at the camera in her hands. "Say cheese!" She says playfully as she pulls the camera up to her face. Shawn does a goofy smile causing Lucy to laugh as she took his picture. "I can do one without my shirt on." Shawn says flirtatiously as he lifts up the bottom of his shirt. Lucy's eyes widen as she sees his abs on display. "No.... keep your shirt on." Lucy says as her voice shakes. Shawn frowns as he puts his shirt back on. She takes another picture of him. "Let me take a picture of you." Shawn says as he reaches for the camera. "No... I prefer to take the photos." Lucy replies nervously. "Nope... I'm taking a picture of you... it would be a sin if a beautiful face like yours wasn't in at least one picture." Shawn says flirtatiously as he grabs the camera from her. "Smile!" Shawn yells as he sticks his tongue out at her. Lucy rolls her eyes causing Shawn to tickle her uninjured foot. She laughed and Shawn took the photo the second she smiled. Shawn couldn't help but admire how pretty she looked. "Let's get a picture together." Shawn suggests as he holds the camera up high and wraps his arm around Lucy. Lucy felt chills enter her skin as Shawns body was pressed against her body. "Say cheese!" Lucy yells. "Cheese!" They both say in unison in child like voices as Shawn takes the camera. They both laugh as Shawn prepares to take another picture. Shawn kisses Lucy's cheek as he takes the photo. Lucy feels her face get hot as Shawn pulls away from her. "I can't wait to see these developed." Shawn says in an excited tone. Lucy nods as she looks over at him. Their eyes locked and Shawns eyes flickered to Lucy's lips. Lucy quickly looked away from him even though she desperately wanted to kiss him. They talked the entire night and lost track of time.

Cory and Topanaga walked into the lobby and immediately walked over to Shawn and Lucy. "You guys are up early." They say in amazement. "Early... it's night time." Lucy replies sharply. "Nope... it's the morning." Topanaga tells her. Lucy eyes widen as she realized she talked to Shawn the entire night. "Smile!" Lucy says in a happy tone as she held up her camera. "Don't take a picture of me!" Cory yells but she already took the photo of him and Topanga. "Topanga....smile!" Lucy says to her as she takes another picture of her. Lucy and Shawn got dressed and loaded their stuff onto the bus. "Goodbye lodge... it was nice being here." Cory says as they walk out the door. "I'm exhausted." Shawn mumbles as they walk onto the bus. Shawn slumps into his seat as he closes his eyes. His hair was messy and he looked exhausted as Lucy sat down next to him. "Say cheese sunshine!" Lucy yells in a upbeat tone. Shawn groaned as she took a picture of him. Lucy put her camera down as she realized how tired she was. Shawn wrapped his arm around her and Lucy rested her head on his chest. They both slept on top of each other the entire ride home.
