Volume 2 Chapter 6: A Night Out & Hard Truths

Previously: She sat up slowly and he sat down on the edge of the bed a few meters away. "Hawks..." "Yeah, Izumi?" She looked down at her hands. "Can someone like me, really become a hero?" He sighed softly and got closer to her and grabbed her hand. She looked into his hawk eyes. "If I can then you can." She smiled slightly and then rested her head on his shoulder. He tensed up but then slowly relaxed soon after. "I don't know what that means but I'm glad I met you." She drifted off to sleep while still holding his hand. She interlocked her fingers with him. His eyes widened, his heart rate spiked, and he blushed bright red in the face.

Somewhere else~ Blood streamed down his body onto the ground as he limped down the dark alleyway. He smeared his blood on the wall with his left hand. He held his stomach with his right. "Why did this happen? How did we fall so far down? I'm sorry that I let you down, Izu-umi." His body fell forward and hit the ground in front of someone in a plague doctor mask.

(1 week after fighting Dabi) Friday night:

Hawks: "What's the sudden text?"

Tokoyami: "Are you alright?"

Izumi: She wrapped her arms around their necks. "Sorry for the vague summon here. I wanted to treat you guys to a good dinner before we patrol."

They both went along with her suggestion and chowed down Korean BBQ. They all laughed and teased each other. They all shared stories of battle and bad quirk fails. Dark Shadow started to get more crazy as the light outside disappeared. Izumi paid the bill with her leftover money. She grabbed their hands and ran towards down the sidewalk.

They arrived at a bench on a hill that overlooked the city they were just eating in. She smiled happily at them while creating purple flames so Dark Shadow wouldn't get out of control. She sat down in the middle of them. "Isn't the view great?" They both looked forward and soaked in the beautiful lights and cold breeze.  "It's gorgeous..." Hawks said looking at her. She blushed lightly. "It's amazing, I'm speechless." Tokoyami said, surprised. She sat there smiling happily.

She made her purple fire into a flower shape,"Wow." Tokoyami and Hawks said in unison. She froze it and handed it to Hawks. Cold air came off it as he held it in his palms. "Here you go, Tokoyami." He nodded his head. "Thanks."

Tokoyami: "It's been great but I'm exhausted, class was a mess. I got studying to do."

They both waved goodbye as he walked away. Then there were two. Hawks slid over and made some space. She stood up and walked towards the cliff ledge. Hawks sat there holding the frozen flower she made for him.

Izumi: "Can I ask you something, Hawks?"

Hawks: "Yeah, sure."

Izumi: "What do you think about Endeavor?"

Hawks: He lit up with excitement,"He's pretty awesome! I'm a huge fan of him. He's my hero. What about you? You must be proud of him."

Izumi: She grabbed her chest tightly. "Oh...i see. That's cool. My hero is Eraserhead." She stood there for a bit saying nothing. "I don't feel so good. I'm going to head back. I think i ate too much or something." He stood up and went to say something but she was already gone.

Hawks felt his heart rate spike,"That was weird." She flew away crying tears of ice. "He doesn't know, it's not his fault. No one knows. I can't tell him, or he will leave me too."

The next day: (Saturday)

Izumi was chilling with Mr. Aizawa in the kitchen while he was getting coffee. He was making agreeing sounds as she told him about her quirk issues.

Then suddenly they heard,"Wow is that really Hawks!?" Mina shouted out in excitement and surprise. Katsuki Bakugo stepped in front of him and barked at him rudely. "You don't look that tough, I bet I could easily best your ass." Hawks glared at him. Katsuki grabbed him by the collar and smirked devilishly. "You look like a villain more than a hero!" He started laughing in Hawk's face. "Hey, Katsu." He turned around to see Izumi's right hand coming straight towards him. His eyes widened as she slapped him in the face. He stood there in shock,"Would you do or say the same thing to All Might? No? Then shut the fuck up and be more respectful!" Everyone looked at her with total shock and amazement. Hawks brushed off the dust and straighten up his clothes. "Thanks for the help, but..." Katsuki set off a huge explosion in her face,"You bitch!" She slid backward and said nothing as blood dripped off her chin from her nose. It was broken. She looked at him with no emotion. Aizawa panicked and rushed towards her grabbing his scarf. "I'm going to kill you!" Katsuki dashed towards her, she stood there and opened her mouth. "You really want me dead? Have you killed someone yet? Have you witnessed their soul leaving their body? The light in their eyes disappear? Their screams as they beg you to stop?" He stopped inches away from her and hesitated to use his quirk as she stood there motionless. He went to speak back and say something cocky but nothing came out. "No...I haven't." She reached out and put her hand on his shoulder. He looked up into her emotionless cold eyes. "I have done all of those things multiple times. And it's a thing you don't want to brag about. Unless you are a villain." Everyone froze up and felt the tension become thicker. Her grip on his shoulder increased, he grunted in pain but didn't stop looking in her eyes. "Do you enjoy hurting others or do you just enjoy fighting and getting stronger?" He couldn't speak, he's never felt this way before. "There's a huge difference. You say die a lot when you fight against people but I bet you don't think about the topic much and what it truly means." She grabbed his other shoulder and started to create hot steam as she burned through his clothes. He felt the small feeling of burning on his shoulders. "Have you experienced a near-death experience!?" He saw her eyes shake, her voice cracked in desperation. He shook his head silently. "Well, I have! Aizawa has, Hawks has, All Might has, Shoto has! We are all still standing! And yet you still mock us. We are trying every day to live without regrets. We lost loved ones due to our actions and what we didn't do. Their voices echo through our minds as we live on in their place. Do you understand how that feels? No? Then shut up!" Tears streamed down, Aizawa's, Hawk's, Shoto's, and a few more faces.

She dropped her arms to her sides. "I understand the need to feel strong but the way you act isn't something you should be proud of. Please I'm begging you, hear me when I tell you that killing someone isn't something you want. I wish I could go back. The day when I was here learning how to be a pro hero. The day I ran away from home to escape the pain of my failure. I died in a stabbing. I wish I went to Mr. Aizawa instead of running. I bled out in the alleyway alone with tons of regrets spiraling in my head." She walked past him and stopped behind him. "Being a hero is more than just fighting strong people and winning. Sure, I'm strong but what's the point if I can't even save someone I care about at the end of the day. Think about what I said and rethink your entire attitude towards those around you." She walked past Hawks," Words hurt more than you think. Your actions speak louder than words but sometimes saying the wrong thing can lead to death." She left the dorm building in silence.

The entire room was filled with painful silence. Aizawa left his coffee and went upstairs crying silently. Katsuki stood there looking at everyone else but they looked away from him. His eyes widened in shock. They all walked away from him, he started crying out of nowhere. Hawks turned around and walked back out towards Izumi.

Hawks: "Izumi!"

She turned around and dried her tears. He pulled her into a warm embrace. She hugged him back. "I'm here for you." She screamed out in emotional pain as she gripped onto his jacket tightly. He patted her back as she screamed her heart out.

Katsuki looked out and heard her painful screams through the dorms' glass and walls. He looked around and no one was there. His heart skipped a beat. He didn't think about the concept of death this entire time. He felt guilty for the first time ever.
