Sumbul sat at the window seat in her room, staring aimlessly at her home's backyard, her coffee lay untouched. A book perched on her lap as she fiddle with its cover absent mindedly. Her thoughts jumbled up with uncertainty. it had been more than two years since her divorce, but she had still not been able to get out of that face of life, her self respect shattered in million pieces and she felt like she would not be able gather it in this lifetime.

Amma had been insisting on doing her second marriage for a few days, which she was worried about right now. She did not want to waste her and others' lives by marrying again, she no longer wanted to tolerate any kind of rejections in her life. She does not even know whether she will be able to conceive or not and she knew that no matter how far this world goes, the man living in this society will not accept an infertile woman. she was sure that whoever would marry her would leave her again. And now she hated men.
Her good for nothing ex husband betrayed her, he tore her into pieces, he made her feel worthless. Every time he told her she was not enough, he made her question her own existence.

"Lein api samhalein apni pyari billi ko, sara ka sara doodh pi gyi hai kambkhat.
Amma ko pata chal gya toh shamat aa jayegi humari." Maheen gave Sumbul her precious cat, while panting for air. Sumbul who was immersed in deep thoughts startled by her sudden arrival as she placed a hand on her heart.

She said running her hand fondly on her cat's back . annie was found outside her house and was hurt. Sumbul was very sad to see her in such a condition, so she took care of the poor thing for a few days and after annie was cured, she kept the cat with her.
"Acha thik hai..... aapki pyari annie ko kuch nhi kehti mai." She made a face and left grumpily. Sumbul laughed shaking her head at her antics while patting annie lightly who purred, delighted with the affection.

Sumbul was a soft hearted and kind girl who can't someone's suffering be it a human or animal. Don't know when will her suffering end and she will be truly happy because her hope for a better future had already died along with her pathetic excuse of a marriage.
