Elias didn't reply and mull over in his heart secretly.

He truly wished that was the case. Valentine is by no means weak. Before he finally obeyed his sister it was already a little over a year. His mental prowess was incredible as well as his physical strength.

He was shocked to say the least when a teen only a year older than him showed such talents in fighting. He couldn't understand it as he came from a scholar family. But his brother Jun reminded him that Valentine is suppose to be like that since he came from a well known military lineage, as opposed to their family.

And his physical strength and talent became even more apparent as he got older. With a proper education given by his tutors amidst the brainwashing, he turned out to be on par with his eldest brother Jun.

Which mildly bothered Elias. He knew that he's completely loyal to his sister but what if something goes wrong with him in the future?

Valentine practiced sword fighting all day long in the training hall and went to his room to wait for his Lady Selene to summon him for his punishment.

He already knew that she wasn't going to simply forgive him. After several years of being with her, Valentine understand her like the back of his hand.

A knock on his metal door resonated, making him look expectantly towards it. Which revealed Lady Selene's knight-in-command, Simon.

Even if it's the wretched Simon at the door, Valentine still felt the bubbling happiness as he knew that in a few minutes, Simon will deliver him to his Lady Selene.

They walked together in silence but Valentine soon noticed that they were not going to the punishment room but.........the black room.

"We're here, you'll stay here for 2 weeks as per Lady Selene's command, you will only get out for your training time." Simon unlocks the door as soon as they arrived in front of the plain looking metal door, then stepped aside to let Valentine enter.

"Where....where is Lady Selene? Why isn't she here?" Valentine felt confused. She knew how much he detested the black room, so she always escort him here everytime. And whisper some words of comfort. His stomach dropped in disappointment.

"Lady Selene left a while ago and will return shortly after sorting out the things that she needed to do in the capital." Simon stood rigid, keeping his guard up against Valentine. Simon knew how much of a pain he is to deal with. He's completely obedient and good-tempered to Lady Selene and towards the two masters but it's a different story when it comes to other people. Simon beckoned him to enter the room but Valentine still refused to enter, holding his hand out in the air.

"When will she be back?" Valentine questioned with a crestfallen expression. He couldn't help but feel distressed, he couldn't even stomach the thought of staying in the black room. And now without her here to encourage him, he felt a sudden obscure feeling welling inside him.

"I already told you, now get moving." Valentine gritted his teeth, refusing to move and stared at the ground below unresponsively, which irritated Simon. But he still tried to reason with him calmly, the mistress doesn't like to resort in violence, especially without cause.

"Don't be difficult, Lady Selene despises this kind of attitude the most. You wouldn't want her to be mad the minute she comes back right?" Simon calmly said, shamelessly using their mistress's name.

Valentine nodded after a while, sighing deeply before finally entering the black room on his own. He, more than despise this place. The black room as Lady Selene likes to call it was a dark and relatively small place. There's no window, source of lighting and any opening besides the door.

Valentine slowly moved towards the small bed and sat down begrudgingly. Even if he can't see anything he had long known the exact places of the things inside.

The black room is is the place that made him relinquish everything. They would isolate him here for hours, days or even weeks, without a shred of food or water. They'd deprive him of sleep. And they would make him inhale something. It made him feel like living was truly a hellish feat. He felt that staying with the Fasci family was despicable beyond comprehension.

But......his Lady Selene gave him the truth, she gave him light even if he's just a disgusting existence that doesn't deserve anything.

Even if he's truly nothing.

Lady Selene was the only one that pulled me out of the desperation and guilt. She gave me the chance to be better.

Valentine lie down on his back, closing his eyes shut while trying to ignore the budding voices on the back of his mind. Enduring the pain in his heart.

Selene endured the stiffness on the back of her neck as she sat cross-legged on their family carriage.

It's been a few hours since she've left the Casia, the region where they're residing, to head into the capital, Qana.

They wouldn't be in Qana until tomorrow so she decided to bring a few servants with her. The others were placed on the other carriages while the closest to her by age was situated in front of her in the same carriage.

"Miss, I've brought plenty of snacks and brewed tea, would you like to stop and eat?" Madeline, with her black hair and foxy brown eyes looks beautiful. She's a year older than me and certainly look like a full fledge woman.

"Uhmm Lady?" Madeline called me again when I didn't answer her question. Cocking her head in my direction. I just smiled at her then gazed outside the window to see the endless view of the houses and local market. There are numerous people outside. Some are with their lovers, children or family. It made her smile unconsciously at the sight of the young children with their parents.

"Madeline how's your family?"

"Pardon? My family Lady Selene?" Selene nodded as a reply, still looking at the view oustide.

"Yes, tell me, talk to me about your family." There are times when Selene felt herself waning.
