Valentine finally walked out of the house.
The trail of blood followed him as he stood in front of the Marquis.
He extended his right hand and presented the head. Which in return made Jun gaze at him in slight acknowledgement.
"That was fast," Jun cocked his head at Valentine's calm face. "And I didn't expect you to behead him." Jun touched the head on his left palm then snatched it from Valentine grasp.
He threw it out to the left side carelessly after staring at it's vile face.
But the head, like a ball rolled for a few times but hit an enormous tree which made it end back to Valentine's side.
That's when Jun noticed that his left hand that was clenched was still dripping blood uncontrollably. He narrowed his eyes and spoke up. "Are you bleeding?"
Valentine furrowed his brows then answered a "no".
"Hmmm, then why is your hand bleeding?" He focused his gaze at his left hand. If he didn't brought Jaime's head. Jun would surely doubt Valentine.
At the Marquis's question, Valentine's gaze focused on his hand oozing blood.
He didn't have a choice but to stretch out his left hand and unclasp it.
Revealing a bloody organ.
"It's for Lady Selene." Valentine explained when he saw the confused Marquis.
Jun cannot believe Valentine. He took out a heart. He took out Jaime's heart. It's still even beating. Jun was not disgusted but he was apprehensive.
He had killed countless soldiers and tortured assassins but he never dug out a heart.
It was purely inhumane.
And besides, his sister despises blood. She hates the smell and the sight of it. Valentine was stupid to say that the beating heart was for his sister.
"Throw it out, it'd decay before she can even get home." Jun simply instructed him to get rid of it. There's no use in educating him in his sister's preferences.
He walked past him, leaving Valentine standing alone clutching the organ.
Valentine blinked at the beating heart. He felt disappointed that he was ordered to get rid of it since he would like to let his Lady Selene to praise him. He still like to bring it home but he cannot defy the Marquis's order.
With a heavy sigh, he brought down his hand to the side and advanced towards the knights. Staring forward expressionlessly, he crushed the heart on his palm then let go of the flesh completely.
Leaving behind a head and a shredded heart on the soil.
Belonging to an aged man called Jaime Berfold.

"Princess you're still as humorous as before. Though as much as I'd love to stay I need to rest for my travel back home tomorrow." Selene lightly smiled at the equally striking woman walking beside her.
As oppose to her blonde hair, the Princess's hair was dark, her doe eyes appeared innocent and quirky. Giving the appearance of a sweet and full of innocence maiden. Making the hearts of the men desire to protect her delicate beauty. In simple words, she's a sight to see.
Though Selene was just as much beautiful as the Princess is, Selene held an immeasurable grace and calmness. She was dignified and excluded an air of nobility.
If countless men wanted to coddle and protect the Princess because of her delicate beauty.
In contrast, men both admire and felt intimidated by Selene. They felt that Selene's beauty and presence was too outstanding that it made them feel helpless and embarrassed.
Their stark difference was truly great. But it doesn't serve as a hindrance for them to be friends.
"Selene is treating me so coldly! Why are you calling me Princess again?" The Princess puckered it's soft lips in grievance, making the onlookers felt a tug on their heartstrings.
Ah the Princess is too gentle looking.....
Selene however was used to her antics. So she can only laugh helplessly.
"Princess Nadia is still so playful, but it will be bad to call you that since we're outside." Selene gently reminded her of the customs and etiquette, there's too much prying eyes and ears outside. An aristocratic lady like Selene may be powerful but the customs still wouldn't allow anyone lower than a royal to call the Princess Nadia by her name.
Although she did, at some point in her life. When they were younger and just alone.
"Huh? They wouldn't dare!" Nadia refused to back down and gazed at the surrounding outer garden. Finding anyone who has the guts to tattle against her.
Selene just shook her head and lightly smile. If only she was that worryless.
"Princess! Watch out!" Just as they passed a group of male servants, a scream broke out. Alerting both Selene and Princess Nadia, the servants behind them panicked as well but they couldn't react as they saw the gardener in the ladder loses his footing which made the ladder unstable. Resulting for the gardener to lean his body backwards.
And behind him was Princess Nadia.
Nadia looked startled when a loud scream broke out but couldn't react immediately. She can only gazed upwards when a shadow fell on her.
And she saw an old man falling down towards her with a long scissor. She was expecting the man to land on her when Nadia felt a sharp push.
In the end, as she was falling down backwards. She saw how Selene's hand was extended while she looked up at the man falling down.
At this rate, because she was pushed down, Selene would be crushed instead. And the scissors on his hand may even injure Selene!
Nadia's tears broke down when she saw Selene closed her eyes. She can only push Nadia in time and not dodge.
Selene just closed her eyes and waited for the impact when she felt herself moving backwards. Towards a warm chest.
But because of the abrupt grabbing, Selene stumbled and fell backwards.
But instead of the hard land, she felt a softness that cushioned her fall. She can even hear the breath, which means that she landed on a body.
