Chapter Twenty-Six: God Complex

Y/N's POV

You slowly approach the entrance to the hospital when Josephine stops you.

"I'll find the lab. You start heading upstairs."

"I think it should be the other way around."

"I'll plant the bombs. Twenty minutes max inside."

You look at her hesitantly.

"Just do it."

"Fine."

You both head inside. You take the right hallway as Josephine takes the left hallway. You hear a door open then quickly close. You take cover behind the wall and look down the hallway leading left. It's clear.

"Too quiet." you whisper to yourself.

You move down the hallway and find the staircase. You open the door and head up to the second floor. You hear footfalls from the hallway behind the door in front of you.

"Find anything useful?" you hear one of the Bastard Syndicate members say.

"Nah, everything has been picked clean."

You see them both pass through the small window on the door. You open the door slightly and toss an explosive out. It explodes and you bust through the door ready to fight. Two men run down the hallway yelling. You open up on both of them killing them. You follow down the same direction they were going with shots hitting around your feet. You crouch down and shoot at the woman behind you. You hit her three times in the chest and she slumps back onto the wall behind her. You stand back up and get lightheaded. You see Cern inspecting the body of the woman.

"You're gonna need me."

"Fuck off."

It turns and looks at you, "You're pushing your luck, Y/N."

"I DON'T need you. Get the hint already."

You hear footsteps behind you and you duck down quickly. A machete hits just above your head. You swing around ready to shoot when hockey mask kicks your weapon out of your hands. You pull out your knife and swing at him. He dodges it.

"Nice mask, it isn't Halloween yet."

He swings his machete at you again and it cuts your cheek.

"Can't take a joke?"

You dodge another machete strike and he dodges a slash from you.

"You don't talk much, do you?"

He grunts.

You grunt at him, "Right back at you."

Josephine's POV

"Underground lab, has to be......"

You stop beside a couple lockers with one open. You inspect the inside and find a lever inside.

"Simple enough." you say pulling the lever.

The lockers shift inward revealing a dimly lit hallway. You walk inside as the lockers shift back in place. You proceed down the hallway finding a laboratory with a bunch of large tubes housing some sort of organism and computers. A large monitor heads the room.

"Jesus...." you say looking at the tubes.

You move on to one of the monitors. You try figuring out what it means, just a bunch of numbers and math equations. You notice a syringe with a little bit of mysterious liquid inside of it. You pick it up.
