Chapter Twenty-Nine: Willow Tree

Louis' POV

A single shot rings out and strikes Y/N in the head. His body is sent forward and his head whips forward hitting the ground. The crowd cheers as Edward basks in the glory of killing Y/N. You look at Clementine who is motionless.

A hand grasps at you from under a dumpster, "Help....."

You recoil in surprise and aim your pistol at the person hiding under the dumpster.

"You're Louis..... right?" the person says struggling to crawl from underneath the dumpster.

"Yeah." you say lowering your weapon and looking back at the body of your friend, "You're Josephine?"

The crowd is dispersing into the burned out and destroyed buildings of Richmond. Blood starts to pool around Y/N's head.

"Yeah." she says slowly getting onto her knees, "We need *cough* to get out of here."

"We can't leave him." you say.

"He's gone." says Josephine.

"He just, uh, needs to go see Ruby. She can patch him up." you say choking on your words.

"I'm sorry Louis, there's nothing more that we can do."

You look back at Clementine still looking at the body of Y/N. Still motionless, no emotion, a blank expression shrouds her face. You look at the wounded Josephine who is running off adrenaline alone. Her clothes are tattered and torn. A huge gash on her arm and cheek.

"Can you move?" you ask Josephine.

She stands up shakily holding her arm, "I can manage."

You go to pick up Clementine and she pushes you away.

"We need to go." you tell her.

"Y/N... we need to- "

"He's gone." says Josephine raising her voice, "If you don't hurry we will get killed too."

Clementine whips her head to look at Josephine, "The fuck did you say to me?"

You grab onto Clementine stopping her advance on Josephine, "Clementine we have to go."

"Get the hell out of my way Louis."

"What are you gonna do?" responds Josephine.

"You're about to find out." Clementine snaps back.

"We can't be doing this right now." you say trying to diffuse the situation.

Two shots ring out towards you, "There's more over here!"

"Oh shit." you say.

You and Josephine start to take off down the alley. You look behind you to see Clementine still looking at Y/N's body.

"Clementine! We have to go!"

"I know!" she looks down at Y/N one last time before following the both of you down the alley and into the street.

You help Josephine squeeze through the gap on the wall out of Richmond first then help Clementine through next. You squeeze through the gap and see the outside of Richmond littered with walkers. You see Clementine and Josephine running in the distance dodging walkers in their way.

"Louis, come on!" yells Josephine.

You hop over a destroyed car and rush towards the pair ahead of you. You push back walkers in your way when one grabs onto your arm. You rip your arm away and shoot the walker in the head and keep going. You keep pushing your way through the walkers until the path ahead is blocked by a swarm of the dead. You look behind you and see the way back is surrounded by Bastard Syndicate members shooting at the roaming corpses.
