Chapter 40: Winner

Tyler's POV:

I walked Vanessa to the tent where the other 100m athletes were warming up. we find a place and Vanessa started to warm up. after around 30 minutes a man started calling the athletes names and started dividing them into different heats

"Vanessa Smith!" he shouted "heat 3 line 2!"

Vanessa nodded

She jogged to where I was, got her running shoes and jogged away. when she was half way she stopped and jogged back to me

did she forget something?

"I almost forgot" she said

"What did you forget?" I wondered

"this" she said kissing my lips slowly

"see you" she said jogging away once again.

She's just perfect, I'm glad I to have someone like her in my life. I grab her stuff and walked back to where the boys were

"So how is she?" Tessa asked

"She's a bit nervous but she's alright. she is running on the 3rd heat and she is in line 2" I announced. We watched the first two heats and let me just say that those athletes are really good but not as good as Vanessa. Asher ran in heat 2 and she barely won, the girl who came second and her were head to head

"this is the third heat of the women 100m, in line one we have Anna, line 2 we have Vanessa..." the women announce and everyone cheered when her name was called

"I guess the audience has a favourite!" the women announced again. she said the other girls names, but honestly I wasn't paying any attention.

"Girls on your marks..." the girls did as they were told

"Get set..." and we heard the pistol go off

My heart started to beating faster when I saw Vanessa and the other athletes go. V was in front throughout the whole race. She kept her head down in the first few meters and kept her knees up and her arms moved in harmony. V crossed the finish line leaving the second girl 10meters behind.

"YESSSS!" we cheered

She did it again! I got up and jogged to the back gate where she would come out, I waited patiently for her. when I saw her coming out I ran to her, wrapped my arms around her and hugged her tightly

"I'm so proud of you babe" I whispered to her

"Thank you" she said still out of breath

"Now lets sit down, you need to relax for your next event at 12" I said

"Vanessa, you were amazing!" cheered Tessa from the stands where she was sitting with the rest of the boys

"Thank you Tess" she replied sitting down. I set down besides her and watched the others run

"Thank you" she whispered besides me

"for what?" I wondered

"For being there for me and helping me" she said

"That was all you, I just supported you" I said

"Your support means the world to me" she replied

"AWWW how cute" we heard the twins say at the same time. its creepy sometimes when they speak at the exact same time .

"I'm going to get something to eat, does anyone want anything?" Cole asked

"I'm good thanks" Vanessa replied

"But you need to eat" I said

"If I eat I'm going to feel sick later on. I usually don't eat 2 hours before a race" she explained

"Alright. So anyone else?" Cole asked

"Just get hotdogs for everyone" Tessa said "I'll come with, if you want!"

"alright" Cole said and Tessa followed him

"Sorry Tyler but I ship them" I heard Daniel say from behind me

"Me too" said the twins

"Me three" said Emily

"Me four" added Liam

"Oh save it guys" I said annoyed

"Dude you need to let her choose, you can't think all the guys are bad for her. Alex was a jerk but Cole really likes her, even when she was with Alex and he is an amazing guy and you out of everyone here know that he will never hurt her. one because he is scared of you and two because he isn't that type of guy" said Daniel

"Wait, like the Alex, like the student that you know" Liam said confused

"I forgot you're new here, there are many things you don't know and trust me you don't want to know" I explain looking at Liam

"True" everyone agreed

"Alright" he said sitting back

The two hours went by faster than I expected and Vanessa was already by the tent getting ready for her 200 meters. She was less nervous now, and she was actually excited for her race. After a few minutes there she was, on the 200m starting point , I recognised one of the athletes she was racing against, and lets just say she is good, like really good, but I think Vanessa has a change against her.

"Dude, isn't that Lexi?" Cole asked

"Yeah it is" I replied

"I've never seem her loose, but I have a good feeling about Vanessa" Tessa said

200m is a difficult race, you need to be able to stick to a fast pace, you need to be able to control your breathing and of course be fit in order to actually do it. I got lost in my own deep thoughts that I didn't realise they have started. Vanessa and Lexi were head to head until the 100m point. they ran as fast as cheetahs. they were so close to each other that we couldn't see who won.

"Oh that was a close one! Who do you think won?" announced the women on the microphone.

after a few minutes of waiting we finally got the results

"Ladies and Gentleman, we finally got the results of who the winner was on the previous race... and the winner is... Lexi Winters!" the women announced once again "it was an extremely close race girls, well done!"

the rest of the day went by fast, Vanessa was a bit upset about loosing to Lexi, but other than that she did extremely well.

"Well done babe!" I cheered when I was her walking toward my car

"Thanks" she exhaustedly said

"You did well, I'm proud of you" I said giving her a tight hug followed by a soft kiss on the lips

"I could have done better" she replied

"Remember that you haven't trained for a while and that you recently got out of the hospital. but having 3 gold medals and one silver medal on you first competition is literally AMAZING!" I said

"Yeah I guess" she laughed getting in the car

"Ty!" I heard someone calling

"Lexi?"

"Oh, it's so great to see you! We should catch up, your place?" she asked

"I'm busy!" I replied trying to walk away

"Come on Tyler, you and me just like the old times" she reminded

"I have a girlfriend Lexi!" I announced

"So, she doesn't need to know. it can be our little secrete" she said moving closer and closer to me, making me feel extremely uncomfortable

"No, Lexi back off!" I said pushing her back a little

"Tyler, are you coming?" Vanessa asked from inside the car

"Yeah!" I replied walking away from Lexi and getting in the car

"Are you alright? what did she want?" Vanessa asked curiously

"Nothing, don't worry" I replied turning on the engine and driving away
