"Here you go" smiled Skailer dropping a medium size plush elephant Infront of me before sitting down
"You steal this from a kid or something?" I questioned as she flipped me off
"I won it and beat Jackson" she said smugly
"You didn't win, you cheated" stated Jackson sitting down as Caleb arrived with a huge stuffed koala on his back
"How you convinced me to carry this is still confusing me" said Caleb as she chuckled, kissing his cheek
"I'm exhausted" I mumbled
"Agreed" said Jackson as Skailer rested her head on my shoulder
"Someone's going to have to carry me upstairs and into my house" she sighed, closing her eyes as everyone turned to Caleb
"You realise I'm not the only person here, right?"
"Yeah, but you are the only one she's dating so...enjoy it" I smiled smugly as he rolled his eyes
"I'll carry the stuffed animals" offered Jackson before grabbing the koala off of Caleb
"And I'll continue drinking my slushie" I said as Caleb bent down, lifting Skailer in his arms
"I hate you" he murmured as I stood up, pushing everyone's seats in
"You keep telling yourself that" I smiled as he walked off, Jackson and I following behind
"See you two are friends, again" stated Jackson as I shrugged
"We needed this, so thank you, to both you and Caleb" I smiled standing on my toes and kissing his cheek
"Y...y.. you're welcome" he stammered as I smiled to myself at the effect I had on him
The car ride to Skailer's house was quite, mostly because everyone in the back was asleep, leaving just Caleb and I.
"So how's dating Skai like?" I questioned as he looked at me out the corner of their eye
"She's cool" he shrugged as I raised my eyebrow at him, "She makes me smile and maybe for the first time in my life, that's enough"
"You guys are cute together" I stated as a small smile appeared on his lips
"I know it's weird but sometimes she does this thing where she goes from being the happiest person in the room to just quiet the next second and I worry that maybe there's something she's not telling me" he admitted, my eyes moving to him, "I know it's probably nothing but she's the first girl I've ever felt this way about and I'm just worried I'm doing something wrong"
I sat quietly in my seat, wondering what I was supposed to say or what the right thing to say was.
"It's not you. Skailer's just complicated and sometimes she gets into these really dark moods, where she feels like she needs to disappear and it's not you but you just need to be there for her and let her tell you what's up when she's ready" I said, trying my best to say as much as possible without saying too much, "Just trust her"
"I do, I just get worried sometimes" he said as I placed my hand on his
"She really likes you, Caleb" I stated, squeezing his hand lightly, "And I think you should trust in yourself"
"Thank you, little sis" he smiled
"Anytime" I smiled back
