"We need to talk" said Lila, grabbing my arm and pulling me into the janitors closet
"This is a great change of scenery, mostly because I can't see you" I commented as she switched on the light, a frown on her face, "What do you want?"
"Caleb asked her to wear his jacket at the big game" she stated
"So?"
"Are you so desperate for a friend that you're willing to hurt everyone close to you?" questioned Lila causing me to look at her in confusion
"Since when did you care?"
"We may not be friends anymore but I care about Caleb" she said causing me to scoff in disbelief, "I don't need you to believe me"
"Then why are we having this conversation right now?"
"Because you and I both know that Caleb is going to get hurt if he continues dating Skailer and you possibly couldn't be that selfish" she mumbled the last part as I frowned
"You off all people want to talk about being selfish?" I asked, taking a step forward, "Selfish is you leaving me when I needed you, something you sure as hell didn't mind doing after my dad died"
"Cass-"
"No, you've been nothing but an asshole to me and I don't need you to be my friend but at least act like I'm human" I said trying my best not to cry, "Don't only talk to me when you're worried about your ex boyfriend who has happily moved on"
"Skailer is going to hurt the both of you" she said as I took another step forward
"Guess you care about us getting hurt when you're not the one hurting us, right?" I spat, all the anger and resentment gone from her face, "You're the pathetic one, she's the girl who helped me find myself after you left me in the dark"
"I'm sorry" she whispered, the words barely audible as I took a step back
"I'm done letting you win. Skailer might be a liar and she might end up hurting us but at least she makes us happy" I said before exiting the closet, bumping into Jackson
"Hey Cass" said Jackson, the words sounding more like a question
"Do you want to skip school with me?" I asked as he gave me a confused look
"And go where?"
"Anywhere" I said as he looked around at the now empty hall
"Sure" he mumbled as I smiled before grabbing his hand and leading him out of the school
