The next Monday Skailer didn't show up to school for the first time in what felt like forever, Caleb hadn't spoken to me either and for the first since Skailer King crashed into my world, I felt alone.

"Hey Ian" I smiled, stopping at the staircase leading into the school, "What's up with Caleb?"

"You really don't know, huh?" he questioned as I gave him a confused look, answering his question, "Skai broke up with him yesterday and he thought you knew which is why he isn't talking to you"

"Skai broke up with him?" I questioned as he nodded his head, my mind suddenly going too fast for me to process anything, "Why?"

"I don't know, but whatever it is better not mess up his game on Friday. Rumour is scouts from UCLA are coming and God knows that's his dream school" said Ian as his attention turned back to where Caleb was standing, "I should probably go. No offense, but loyalty and all"

"It's fine, Ian. You can go" I sighed as he gave me an apologetic goodbye before walking away

Richards:
We need to talk
ASAP.

Lunch had come and still no replies from either Skailer or my brother who hadn't even bothered to look in my direction since the morning.

"Please don't tell me you're ignoring me too" I said as Jackson gave me an amused smile before sitting down across from me

"No one's ignoring you" he stated as I have him a look of disbelief before gesturing to the table behind him where my brother was sitting with the rest of the boys that I had become close to over the last few weeks, "They'll get over it"

"I'm not so sure about that" I sighed, running my hand through my hair

"Look, you didn't know and no one blames you for it, not even your brother. He's just hurt and he needs time" Jackson pointed out

"It doesn't matter that didn't know, I'm the one who gave him the go ahead on dating her and I knew there was a chance that he would get hurt and still I let them date, I let my brother get hurt" I stated with snapping the rubber band on my wrist as Jackson grabbed my hand, bringing my actions to a halt

"It's not your fault, Cassidy Richards" he stated, his blue eyes gazing into my own, "It's not your fault"

"I wish I felt that way" I said as my phone rang

Incoming call...
Nate King

Confusion filled my face as I looked down at my phone, confused to see Skailer's father calling me.

"Who is it?" questioned Caleb, noticing my confusion as I looked up at him

"It's Skailer's dad" I shrugged before answering the call, "Hey Nate, what's up?"

"Have you seen Skailer today, she told me she was feeling sick so I left her stay home but when I came home to check on her, she wasn't there" he said as my blood suddenly ran cold

"I... I...no, I haven't seen her today" I said as I heard a sigh from the other side of the phone

"Okay, well I can't seem to get a hold of her and I don't want to worry the cops so I'll look around"

"I'll help" I said standing up as Jackson gave me a confused look

"I can't ask you that, you're in school" he stated

"No, I insist. She's my friend and I need to make sure she's safe" I said grabbing my backpack

"Thank you so much, Cass" he said, worry clear in his voice

"I'll text you if I find her" I said before hanging up, Jackson still looking at me in confusion, "Skailer's gone, her dad can't find her and I'm going to look for her before she does something stupid"

"I'll come with" said Jackson standing up with me and grabbing his backpack
