Passive!Nightmare x Reader

You weaseled around shops and houses running quickly. The fastest way to get to your destination. Dead ahead laid a big hill and on top of the hill was a big apple tree filled with black and golden colored apples. You smiled at the familiar tree. Running faster towards the hill you could see two figures, skeletons, to be exact. One was covered in bright colored blue and yellow clothing while the other, his brother, wore different shades of purple. The one in purple sat under the tree, a book in hand while his brother sat next to him reading over his shoulder.

"Good morning Night! Dream!" You yell enthusiastically up the hill when you make it to the base. They both look up at you, Night seemed to jump slightly when his name was called. Dream gasped and smiled brightly at you.

"Y/N!" He got up from his spot next to his brother to greet you, almost tumbling down the hill halfway down. "Y/n! It's good to see you again!"

"But I saw you both yesterday?" You tilted your head with a smile.

"But that was yesterday!" He exclaims. You giggle again and nod.

"Alright Dream, whatever you say" You smile. He smiles back before gesturing up the hill towards his brother. When you finally reach the tree you're greeted by Nightmare's soft smile which you happily replied back with your own.

"Good morning Night" you say as you  and Dream both plop down on opposite sides of him.

"Morning Y/n" He said with a small yawn.

"You sound tired Night. Did you not sleep well?" You ask, slightly concerned. Dream also seemed to wonder too as if he didn't ask his brother this question before.

"Oh," was all he said before pausing. He looked to be lost in thought. "Yeah," He finally said. "I didn't sleep well" He smiled sheepishly, clutching the sides of his book with his fingers.

"That's not good for you!" You exclaim, grabbing the attention of some villagers. Dream nodded.

"I know Y/n, I'll get some good sleep tonight to make up for it, promise." Nightmare's cheekbones lit up slightly. The light purple complimented his dark purple eyes. You smiled in relief. 

"Good" You say. Dream also seemed to smile at this. You were the first to talk to Nightmare he's realized. The reason nobody talked to him was unknown to Dream. You drew your attention to the book Nightmare holding. "What 'cha got there Night?" You attempted to read the title as you asked. 'Dreaming' was the title of the book. Nightmare glanced down at his book. 

"Oh it's a chapter book about a girl named Lilith who has strange dreams that control her life and what happens in it and she tries to figure out what's causing it to happen" He answers, opening his book back up to his place. "Would you like to read with me and Dream?" He asks. Dream lights up with excitement. 

"Please Y/n! We can fill you in! It's a really good book and Night usually helps with the hard words I don't understand so he can do the same for you!" Dream stumbles over his own words as he tries to come up with as a many excuses he can to get you to read with them. You laugh.

"Of course! It sounds interesting. I'd love to read with you guys!" You agree. Nightmare seems to grow excited by your answer, not as excited as his brother but, still quite excited. You guess he's never had another reading buddy other than his own brother.

They both filled you in on the book. It was actually very interesting. Right now the main character, Lilith, was stuck in a dark, very deep pit. It was one of her dreams, of course. But in this book her dreams control her life, so what does this pit mean? You were starting to get really into the book by now. You leaned in closer over Nightmare's shoulder. Nightmare took a quick glance at you before focusing back on the book and turning the page.
