(A/N: now reading the story to this AU...we're gonna pretend you won't burn from his touch :D )
You sat on a grassy hill watching the stars and the moon fall behind the hills as the sun rose, revealing itself for the day. You sigh as you sat on the grass. You couldn't sleep after about 4:30am, so you decided to watch the sun rise at 6am. You sighed again as the last bit of the sun rose up from behind the hills into the sky.
"Oh Y/n~"
You squeaked as you heard the very familiar voice from behind you. You turned around pouting a little to see the one and only Dream staring right at you with a grin on his face. "My my Y/n, you look tired. Did you get enough sleep last night?" He said, staring at your face. You blushed at his intense staring. "S-stop staring D-dream!" You say, stuttering. "Sorry, it's rude to stare isn't it?" He says with a slight chuckle. You roll your eyes with a small smile forming on your lips.
This was your wacky friend. He was gentle and sweet but he was also crazy.
-flashback-
The sun was up and shining as the chaos commenced. You gaped at the villagers crowded around the tree. You knew Dream would come back and you knew it wouldn't end well. As the crowd around the tree grew you were sucked in. You were thrown back and fourth as people continued to throws punches and kicks.
As you were being thrown around you noticed from across the village and white figure dressed in blue making his way back to the tree. Your eyes widened. It was Dream. He was coming back! You tried to get out of the crowd but unfortunately you couldn't. The crowd was too thick for you to escape it's grasp. Nobody payed any attention to you. As you were too shy to yell out you went completely limp, obeying the crowds movements an Dream got closer and closer to the tree.
"Nightmare! NIGHTMARE!" you heard Dream scream. The crowd too thick for him to reach his brother.
You were finally pushed out of the crowd. You grunted as you landed on the ground. "Miss! Are you okay?! What's going on?!" You heard someone say. You looked up to see Dream looking down at you with concern and worry for not just his brother but for you too.
"They're...They're trying to hurt your brother.." you say.
-flashback end-
You remember the time vividly. With the chaos at the time Dream had gone mad. You were spared through all the chaos because of how helpful you were to Dream to help him understand the situation even though the outcome was terrible.
"Y/n?~" you heard someone say, snapping you out of your thoughts. "H-huh?.." you unintentionally say. Dream chuckled slightly.
"You were spacing out" he says. "O-oh, I was?.." you say blushing a little. "S-sorry, haha" You tucked a strand of hair behind your ear. Dream chuckles at your shyness.
That's what he liked about you. You were very shy, but he found it adorable.
"So," he says as he sits down next to you on the grassy hill. "Couldn't get enough sleep last night? You're never up this early in the morning and the sun just rose" he says looking at you.
You slightly blush at his observation but he wasn't wrong.
You nod your head at him as he was correct.
You hear Dream sigh. "Y/n that's not good for you. You need rest"
"Yeah I know" you say as you rub the light bags under your eyes. Dream huffs as he looks at your tired state. "Do you want help? You know, like, help to go back to sleep. I can take care of you for the day" He takes your hand and starts drawing circles on the back of it with his finger.
You blush at his words and actions but slowly nod with hesitation. "T-that'd be nice...I-I guess..." you say, the blush growing bigger. Dream chuckles softly as he snakes his arm around your waist to pull you closer to him.
His arm around your waist, your head on his shoulder. His right wing wrapped around your back.
Your blush didn't seize.
"I-I, Dream w-wh- I- Dream this i-is" You couldn't form a single sentence as Dream just stared at you with a smile, trying not to laugh. "Dream! It i-isn't f-funny." You stutter. Dream chuckled. "There there Darling~ Just relax, I said I would take care of you didn't I?~" He cooed in his smooth voice. The tone almost made you melt right into his arms. Your heartbeats getting faster and faster by the minute. "Just relax and let me handle it" he said. you hesitantly nod and relax a little, slowly drowning in the comfort.

You sighed contently, the feeling was wonderful. The apple scent that Dream gave off, the rays of sunshine on your face. Everything felt amazing...until the exhuastion kicked in. Your body weight presser into the side of Dream. "Hm? Are you feeling sleepy now Darling?" He asked. You gave a small nod. He hummed in response before moving you off his shoulder to lay on the grass. As he got up from the grassy hill he crouched back down to pick you up. You layed in his hands bridal-style.
Dream smiled as he looked down at you in his arms. He felt the whole world stop as he looked at you, safe in his big arms. He flapped his wings before walking towards your small home with you in his arms.

You felt yourself being tucked into a soft bed. You hummed quietly with a small smile. You heard shuffling around the room but didn't care. The shuffling stopped right next to your bed. "Have a good nap Y/n darling~" you heard the figure say before a pair of boney lips were placed on your forehead.
"Thank you Dream.." you whispered. Dream smiled at your gentle figure.
"I love you Y/n.."
