Chapter 20: The recovery

I found myself to be located on a beach, in a long flowy white dress. No one around, just me, the sand, and the ocean. A light breeze passed my face as the sound of the loud ocean waves echoed in my ears. I looked around the beach to then see a young girl standing in the distance, waving at me, and I walked over to her.

"Natsume-chan?"

-"Nice to see you again Y/N-chan", she smiled at me.

I immediately hugged her tightly, as all the childhood and middle school memories started to come back up and tears were forming in my eyes.

"Natsume-chan I missed you so much.."

-"I miss you too Y/N"

It all felt too good to be true, and reality slowly started to hit me.

"But.. didn't you pass away? How am I seeing you in front of me right now? Am I .. Dead?"

-"I'm here to keep you company for a little, you just had to wait for a bit".

"I don't understand... Where am I?"

-"Don't worry Y/N, your time hasn't come yet. You're still needed, he loves you too much".

"Niragi..? But how will I be able to see him again?"

-"Wake up. Wake up Y/N"

Everything was wiped away as a sudden white, bright, blinding light shone in front of my eyes. I could feel myself laying in a soft bed, my body feeling weak and brittle. I struggled to open my eyes as it felt like my eyelids were as heavy as stones. Only a soft wimper left my mouth as I tried to use my voice to say something.

"..Niragi...?", I finally got out.

---"Ann she's awake!", I could hear someone yelling in the room.

"..Where's Niragi..?", my voice was weak and speaking words was hard.

--"Tatta, Look for Niragi and tell him she has woken up", I could hear a feminine voice saying.

I tried to move myself for a bit but once again struggled due to the weakness of my muscles. My chest was aching in pain and I noticed the large band aids and the bandage wrapped around my torso.

--"Don't try to move too much for now, you're body is healing so you will feel stiff and weak for a while". She widened my eyes and flashed a flashlight in my eyes to examine my pupils, then took a thermometer and placed it in my armpit.

"It hurts", I was being tormented by the pain coming from my chest.

--"There's painkillers on the nightstand, you can-", she was interrupted by a sudden Niragi barging into the room.

-"Where is she?", He sounded extremely concerned. "Y/N", his concerned expression somewhat calmed down and he walked over to me and sat down on the bed. His hand cupped a side of my face and his eyes showed pure relief. "I almost thought I lost you".

"I'm sorry"

-"Don't be, I'm grateful you're still alive"

--"I'm sorry to ruin your moment here, but I suppose you will be taking over from now", she said to Niragi and took the beeping thermometer from my armpit. "Y/N Is on bed rest now, you can not leave this bed for a few days. When you feel like you're much better you can get up again, but no stressful movements. Lucky you still have a long visa because it also means no game participations. I've provided you with a few doses of painkillers and antibiotics, I made a list on the dosage and time stamps these need to be taken."

"Thank you.. for everything", I told her.

--"You were very lucky, the bullet penetrated about two centimeters from your heart, and nearly hit your descending aorta. If it weren't for those two centimeters you wouldn't have survived. Now, I wish you a speedy recovery". She pointed her gaze at Niragi again, her eyes looking threatening: "You, take good care of her", then left the room along with Tatta.

I tried to move around a bit, and failed again.

-"Hey hey hey, take it easy, you heard what she said", he said. I turned my head in his direction to look him in the eyes for a bit.

-"Glad I can still look in those special eyes", he showed a sweet smile.

"You sound so idiotic"

-"True, I'm a total idiot for you". His words made me laugh, but again laughing made the pain from the wound much worse, causing me to groan in response.

-"Does it hurt a lot?", he was getting slightly concerned again.

"Yeah.. kind of. It's okay, I'll recover fast". His hand caressed over my head, giving me the ultimate feeling of comfort. "Come lay with me, please", I asked him.

He got under the covers and laid next to me, placing his arm around me, taking me into his embrace.

"Niragi"

-"Hm?"

"Do you love me?".

-"Do I love you? Of course I do, haven't I been clear yet?, he responded as his hand caressed my arm.

"It's just, I haven't heard you say it yet".

He softly grabbed my face and turned it into his direction.

"I love you, Hirai Y/N", he said as he looked right into my eyes, then placed a kiss on my forehead.

I had already become used to the aggressive Niragi, the way he'd be rough and throw me around like a ragdoll, but in this moment, everything felt so soft, so comforting, and I felt loved, so at ease, and I would want to be in his arms forever.

It had been a few days of resting and I could finally move around again. I took the last dose of antibiotics with a glass of water and got up to put on my shorts, cardigan cover up and thigh holster, placing my gun in it.

-"Are you ready?", Niragi came into the room.

"Yes, fully ready", I smirked. He signaled for me to walk out the door first and followed after me. We walked through the halls of the building, and arrived at a different room. Upon entering, an already firmly beaten up man, fully bruised and covered in blood, was in the middle of the room, faintly yelling in despair.

-"Missed me?", Niragi teased the man. "Now, of course, we can't keep you alive here, so, we will finally end your suffering".

--"Just end me already", the man begged. I kicked the chair where the man was sitting in, causing it to fall over, the man hit the ground hard, and groaned from the fall.

I crouched next to him.

"Apologize", I demanded as I took out my gun and placed it against his temple.

--"I'm... sorry ... I wanted to live", he barely got out.

"Too bad, I want to live now too", I smirked and pulled the trigger, firing a bullet into the man's head, causing a pool of blood to quickly start forming around the man.

-"Whoow!", Niragi yelled. "That was amazing!". I stood back up straight, and Niragi grabbed my waist and pulled me closer to him, and kissed my lips. "Let's go somewhere else", he smirked, and we left the room.
