A week passed by in the blink of an eye. Every week is the same for Nathan and Lexie: wake up, eat, shower, go out, eat, then go to Vance. The only difference is that Nathan makes money off of that building, while Lexie is required to visit. She despised entering that building ever since she was a child. As she grew up, she learned how to make the most of it - make it less miserable. She would watch the several competitors humiliate and pride themselves in the shooting game. Every week, for about 3 years, a new champion is titled. That is until Nathan Anders came along.
Nathan heard about the competition exactly 3 years ago today through an old acquaintance. He needed the money, so when he was informed about the said competition, he immediately took the opportunity. He knew how to shoot, he was surprisingly good. Apparently, all those years hunting with his father really paid off. Nathan entered that building with hoax confidence and concealed anxiety. He watched the competitors shoot and tried his hardest to stop himself from laughing at their horrible aim and incompetence. After about five minutes, he had enough and finally joined the competition. He won the first round against a short man named Clark, then won the second, and third. This went on and on and on, and now 3 years later, he's still the prideful champion.
Lexie sat at her usual seat, which has the perfect view of the game. She watched as Nathan beat every single competitor, again. She found herself admiring the concentrated, yet arrogant look on his face as he aims for the target. The way his body seems so relaxed, while his eyebrows furrow in concentration and his naturally red lips form into a straight line. She smiled and almost, almost clapped when he beat the final competitor.
Cole noticed the remarkable woman that is Lexie, at the corner of his eye. He turned to her and shouted, "Hey! What are you doing here?" She inwardly cringed at the loudness of his voice as 11 heads turned to face her, including the man she grew intrigued by. Lexie politely smiled at Cole and quietly said "hey". Cole made his way to her while she holds eye contact with Nathan, who had a smirk plastered in his face. "So, are you here to finally compete?"
She looks at him and shook her head. "I don't go here to compete." He furrowed his brows, confused. "Why do you go here then? Do you just like watching us be humiliated?" He laughed at his own joke, making Lexie smile back. "I told you, stand up properly, get a good grip, align your sight and you might put an end to the humiliation." She glanced at Nathan and found that he's already looking at her, never once did he look away.
A man scoffed at Lexie's words and muttered, "She keeps talking shit. She probably doesn't even know how to shoot." Nathan noticed this and opened his mouth to speak up, but Lexie beat him to it. She grabbed the gun that the stupid man was holding and shot all 5 targets with ease. She turned to his shocked face and said, "If you're gonna have that attitude, at least have some skill."
She heard Nathan chuckle, so she turned to him and raised both her brows. "What?" She asks. Nathan smirked to disguise his growing smile and shook his head. "You're something else."
