ESTELLE ALWAYS LOVED WATCHING THE STARS, ESPECIALLY AFTER A LONG AND TIRING DAY OF HARD WORK.
a few years ago, when estelle regularly suffered the haunting nightmares of the fall of wall maria, his father, y/n magnolia, often brought him out to the roof to watch the stars. they'd just sit there, marveling at the beauty of the clear, night sky. on some occasions, y/n would bring his lyre up with them and play a small tune.
he never found out where he learned to play the lyre. only that he knew how to play.
but right now, his father was back in the scouting regiment's base, while he was back in the camp, training to become a scout and to follow in his father's footsteps. he would just have to settle with the cool winds to play him a gentle lullaby.
estelle hauled himself up the roof once he was sure that everyone was already asleep. well, not everyone, just the people who are most likely to bother him or stick their nose in his business. he brought a small candle with him to act as his guide to get him out to the rooftop.
once he was up there, he gave the small flame a tiny blow, and the flickering candlelight was extinguished. estelle smiled. "i wonder if dad is watching the stars as well?" he wondered out loud. he took out a pocket-sized book and laid down on the wooden roof.
as everything was calm and quiet, one would never even know that horrendous, man-eating giants were just waiting beyond the walls that stretched far and wide, just waiting to get a chance to devour every human being.
as estelle's eyes were on the bright stars, he began recounting the events of that day to jot down into his small, little notebook. he remembered how jean and eren got into a fight, with eren using one of annie's techniques to bring down the former.
it caused a loud noise that attracted the commandant's attention. when he asked what happened, mikasa lied and said "sasha passed some gas sir."
but what was even funnier, was what the commandant said. he said, "you again? learn some decency will you?"
