teaser - SEASON 2

"SO THIS IS WHERE YOU RUN OFF TO HIDE."

levi looked down, seeing y/n sitting quietly at the foot of a large tree. his knees were pressed against his chest as he held a cigarette stick in one hand. he looked up at levi before exhaling the cigarette smoke from his mouth. "bullshit. i'm not hiding." he said.

he extinguished the cigarette by pressing the lit end against a nearby ashtray. there were other cigarette sticks there, meaning he's been smoking a lot in that spot.

levi didn't comment on that. he simply took a seat beside y/n, to his other side as on y/n's left was a gravestone. it looked well taken care of, with colorful flowers and gifts left on the headstone.

the words, isabel magnolia, were carved onto the stone in beautiful cursive letters. the date of her birth and the date of her death were written below.

"something about the female titan's screams seems to really bother you." levi spoke up. "do you wanna talk about it?"

y/n was silent for a moment. he picked at the skin around his nails as he stayed quiet, pondering on whether to tell levi or not. "of course, we can just sit in silence here, and-"

"her screams reminded me of mom." y/n cut him off. he looked at levi, and their eyes met. nothing but pure exhaustion was in his eyes, and now that he was beginning to trust him, levi wanted to listen intently, to keep that trust that he so carefully built up.

to find out what kind of monsters haunted the lieutenant's mind.

"it was that guy, er... lovof. he... he hurt my mom a lot when we were living with him... and he hurt her a lot while she was pregnant. i thought lovof really liked my mom, but... i don't know."

y/n shrugged, running a hand through his hair as he sighed, turning his head to the side. "i guess he was just using her to blow off some steam. in the end, she died... isabel had to be born early, otherwise, she'd die too. so... while mom was on her last breath, she told me to take isabel out of her..."

levi's brows furrowed. seems to him, lovof was an even bigger monster than he initially thought. "lovof found out and... tossed us back into the underground. i don't know what he did to mom's body though."

shuddering, y/n curled up, wrapping his arms around himself as he relived those memories in his mind. levi removed the black coat he wore and slipped it onto y/n's shoulder, thinking he was a little chilly.

y/n was surprised, but let levi do it anyways. when levi pulled away, he chuckled weakly. "what are you laughing about?" levi asked, one brow raised as he leaned against the tree. y/n shook his head. "nothing, nothing."

"it's just, you told me one time, you hated me." y/n said, smile turning into a frown. "i just never thought that you'd accompany me this much. even if it was on erwin's orders."

levi blinked. it's true, the night before the expedition where isabel and farlan... levi and y/n expressed their mutual hatred for each other as they seemingly danced upon the edges of the rooftops, with the moonlight and stars gazing down on them.

so why? why was he forcing himself to accompany y/n magnolia?

he shook his head. "what about you?" he asked. "do you hate me?"

y/n's mouth hung open a little as he stared at levi. he looked away, going quiet once more to process his thoughts. "i guess i did." y/n quietly said. "i mean, we were at each other's throats for god knows how long." levi scoffed.

again, the lieutenant went quiet. his fingers were nervously fiddling against each other, and his eyes were going from one place to another, almost as if his pupils were chasing silhouettes from the corner of his vision.
