Amani drove down the highway until she reached her mother Rehana's house. As she approached their neighbour she saw her older sister, Layla's car parked in the driveway, Amani instantly became excited. Layla and Amani were very close growing up and it continued through their adulthood.

Layla was one year older than Amani, but they always felt like twins and did everything together, especially after the passing of their father the two girls wanted to make him proud after the little time they spent together.

Amani checked her phone to see a message from Kareem to say he was going to bring Ariyah in around an hour. Amani sighed, still irritated he didn't contact her before going to Ariyah's school but the optimist she was made her happy he was continuing to make the effort with his daughter even if it wasn't in the correct way.

She replied to his message before climbing out of her silver Honda Accord 2020 to knock on her childhood home door.

She was greeted by Layla and her sleeping baby in her arms.

"Hey Lay, and awww Elias I've missed you bubba, he is so cute", Amani cooed at her three month old nephew

"He missed you too Aunty Amani", Layla sang, yawning mid-sentence as they walked into the kitchen to greet their mother

"Where's Riri", Layla questioned, "she loves seeing Elias!"

"She is with Kareem but she will come here in around an hour", Amani replied simply not wanting to get into detail because of how her sister normally reacted around these issues.

Both Rehana and Layla's eyes widened, they were informed of last weekend's events and were both shocked to hear this but decided it was best not to further question.

"Baby, I've missed you!" Rehana said, changing the subject, "You don't come and see me anymore!" she sighed dramatically with her thick Haitian accent coming through making Amani laugh.
