Chapter 2
Hope was looking through her old journal when she heard Mrs. Smiths familiar laugh that she had grown to love over the years. Mrs. Smith was the kind of woman that every girl dreamed to become. She looked like she was in her twenties even though she was nearly 40. Her eyes were the prettiest blue color that you would find. Surprisingly they still sparkled, even after all these years. Her eyes held energy. Hope slowly started to go down the stairs. From where she stood she could see Liam leaning against the wall, both hands in his pockets. She went down one more step and regretted it; the floor squeaked making Liam's head tilt up and within seconds their eyes locked. She felt herself blush and shyly looked away, hoping he wouldn't notice.
"Hope come help me set up! We have some quests!" Her mother called out.
Hope went down the stairs, brushing past Liam to get to the kitchen. She felt intoxicated when she smelt his cologne. But she continued on until she made it to the kitchen.
"Oh my goodness. Hope is that you?" Hope turned around to see Mrs. Smith with a big smile on her face. Her beauty was undeniable. She looked like one of those old fashioned magazine models.
"Hi Mrs. Smith." She said with a smile.
"Oh please don't call me that! It makes me feel old! Just call me Anna."
Mrs.sm- Anna quickly looked back to where Liam was standing and motioned for him to come join. "Hope you remember Liam right?"Hope nodded her head and said in a cool voice, "How can I not? He almost made me go bald from all that hair pulling." She quickly glanced up and noticed he had a side grin on his face. Their eyes met again, a blush made its way up her neck reaching her cheeks. What was it about him that drove her heart crazy?
------------
Dinner had been going on for about 30 minutes and Hope was going crazy. Every time she looked at Liam she felt as if her stomach was churning and her heart raced faster. She could feel her blood race through her veins making her giddy.
"So Liam... What are you planning to do now that you’re out of high school?"
Oh goodness. Hope already knew what her dad was doing. She wanted to leave now before she became embarrassed. He was trying to pry out information, especially the part about them not being there and if he had any interest in Hope."Well once Fall comes around I'm planning to go to college. I got a full scholarship because of football. So that should be pretty fun." This was the first time Hope had heard him talk since she saw him. It just drove her more insane. He had a deep husky voice. He glanced up at her and she quickly looked away. Stop it! She told herself.
"Atta boy! How's your dad doing?" Anna went stiff.
"He's doing good. Still working on the business he's been trying to start up."
From the corner of Hopes eyes she could see Anna shift. She obviously seems uncomfortable. She had to do something."So Liam.. What brought you back after all these years of ditching the beach house?" She felt herself ask. Immediately all eyes were on hers and she regretted asking the question.
"Well. Eighth grade summer I went camping with my mom and dad.. Freshman year was when I knew I wanted to do football. So I became pretty serious about it. I spent that summer going to football camps. Doing everything I could do to perfect as much as I could. My sophomore year was the year I was "maturing" as you guys would say." He smiled and continued, " I thought the beach house was dumb.. Last summer, well you guys know what happened last summer." Everyone went quiet.
Last summer Mrs. and Mr. Smith got a divorce. It was a shock to everyone because they were the example of the golden couple. They both knew each other so well and almost never fought. They seemed so in love all those summers, but sometimes its just not meant to be for some people. It must have been so hard on them, especially Liam. Hope just noticed that Liam was still looking at her. He smirked at her and she hated herself for blushing, but this time she didn't look away. She looked him straight in his stormy, gorgeous eyes.
"May I be excused?" She asked and when her mother nodded she quickly took her plate to the sink washed up and went up to her room. Minutes later she heard a soft knock on her door.
"Trevor, Jason please go away I'm trying to sleep." Yet another knock. "Leave me alone!" This time the knocking got a little louder. "Oh my gosh. I'm done with this! Leave me alone!" She scrambled out of bed an opened her door. "You guys are in-" She looked up and found herself staring into blue stormy gray eyes. He had the side smile on his face. He was clearly amused. Hope caught her breath. She rolled her eyes and walked back into her room. She heard his light chuckle as he pushed his way in.
"Wow this place hasn't changed one bit huh?"
"Nope.." He looked at her and gave her his award-winning smile. He walked around her room looking at the pictures. When he came across the picture of the both of them he chuckled. Hope stood up and joined him. He glanced down at her and she felt herself smile. "We really hated each other..." Hope said."Yea I remember." He looked down at her. He wasn't smiling anymore and the room was quiet. She could hear her short quickened breath and could feel Liams body heat next to hers. She could smell him. His brown hair dipped into his eyes making her want to lightly push it away.
"W-we were kids. We d-didn't know any better." She managed to stutter. He smiled as he placed the picture back down. He turned to her and she took a step back. She needed to put distance between them, but that didn't work when he took another step closer.
"Well those pigtails of yours were pretty fun to play with..." He smirked.
"Hey!" She pushed him away and found herself giggling."To bad they're gone." He said while lightly tugging on her hair. She held her breath.
"LIAM!!!!!!! WE'RE LEAVING!" Anna interrupted their moment. Hope blinked and noticed that Liam was slowly walking away.
When he made it to the door he turned around and said "Goodnight Hope."
When she heard the front door close she let out a small squeal. Liam was not only back, he was HOT and everything Hope wanted in a guy. But then again, she had just met him and who knew how much he had changed. High school changes a person. Plus, Liam wouldn't be interested in a girl like her. He was the football jock. The bad boy, why would he want to be with her. Hope lay in bed and sighed. She tried to fall asleep for hours noticing that every time she came anywhere close to sleeping she would be right back at square one. She needed to get him off her mind and fast. This wasn't a good idea. Liam Smith was a friend. That was it.
With that last thought Hope fell asleep, but who was she trying to kid. She had feelings for Liam. Even if it was just the beginning of a crush. She needed to figure out if he had any sort of feelings for her. For now she would just have to put her feelings aside and get to know Liam as a friend.Well here is Chapter 2 (:
