Chapter 4

Hope sat on the deck admiring her masterpiece. Finally after hours of perfecting the painting it was finally done. She nibbled on the sandwich that her mom had brought out to her. She looked out in the distance and felt as if the waves were calling her.

She got up and started walking. As she got to the water felt her toes go numb, but she didn't stop there. She went deeper in and jumped over the waves making her yoga pants get all wet. That was the last thing on her mind. She felt free. She felt like she could do anything and no one could stop her. That is, until she heard her two brothers running towards her, screaming out her name. She rolled her eyes and turned around. Her two brothers were both running towards her, screaming for help; that's when she noticed Liam behind them. She smiled at the scene.

He stopped when he made it to her and said, "Hey Hope. Have you seen Jason and Trevor?" Both the boys were hiding behind Hope and giggling.

"Nope I haven't seen them." She said playing along.

"Man... I almost had them to. I guess I'll go look for them." Right as he was about to leave Jason popped out and started running with Trevor right behind him. They were both laughing.

"There they are." She giggled. Liam turned around and faced her. He didn't have his shirt on which made Hope skim his body with her eyes. When she met his stormy gray eyes he had a smirk on his face and his eyebrows were raised. Hope cleared her throat and gave him her most innocent smile, but even with that she couldn't stop the blush that had started to invade her cheeks.

"Did you finish your painting?" He asked, breaking the awkward silence. Hope nodded her head and turned around to look at the sun that was now setting. Making the sky its own canvas. Different shades of orange and pink stretched across the sky. Hope closed her eyes and felt the sun kiss her cheeks. She breathed in. She almost forgot where she was until she felt a figure standing next to her. She opened her eyes and saw Liam looking at her. It was as if he were studying her.

"You know you space out a lot.." He said with a chuckle.

She nudged him and said, "I do not!!" She looked at him and he had an amused look on his face. Which made her smile.

"Okay then. Well there was something I wanted to ask you." This got her attention. She turned to him and looked into his eyes. They seemed to have gotten darker by the second. She felt her heart stutter and gulped.

"Okay." She tried to say but it came out as a whisper.

"So you know how I went food shopping with my mom today?" He waited until she nodded to continue talking. "Well I ran into Tyler, Madison and Skye. And they told me about the bonfire they're having tonight and asked me if I wanted to go. I told them how your staying next door and Madison freaked out because you hadn't called her yet. She told me to give you this though." Hope sighed. Taking the tiny piece of paper from Liam.

Madison had been her overly dramatic friend. She always waited a few days into staying at the beach house so that she could have some peace and quiet before Madison filled her in on all the drama. Skye her other friend was more like Hope she was quiet and was more Independent. That's why her and Skye would hang out a lot more. They seemed to get along better, due to the fact that Madison would get angry or frustrated over the smallest things.

Hope opened the paper and started to read it. She recognized Madison's handwriting right away. The way she swished her Y's and made sure the dots on top of the I's were a circle.

Hope,
You have to come to this bonfire!!!!!! And bring Hottie Liam with you! I totes call dibs on him!! Oh and wear something cute puhleaasseeee. Don't wear your normal sports stuff. There are gonna be cute boys.(; Cannot wait to see you!!!! We have so much to talk about!

-Madison 💛

Hope felt herself smile; she looked up at Liam who had a questionable look on his face.

"Well looks like I'm going with you to that bonfire!" They both started heading back and silence filled the air. Hope didn’t know what to say to him. She peeked at him, he looked as if he was in deep thought. They arrived at the house a lot faster than she expected and before she went inside she heard him call out.

"See you at 8!" She smiled and made a run for the stairs. She was going to listen to Madison's advice an make herself look decent.

She opened her closet and looked through her clothes. She didn't want to wear anything to fancy. It was a bonfire, she wanted to be comfortable yet cute. She decided on her high waisted shorts that were stretchy and went along with a loose white lace shirt. She topped the outfit with her starfish necklace that she loved. And put on her brown sandals.

She went into the bathroom and started to straighten her hair. Once she was done she admired how long her hair actually was.

She decided on putting on some eyeliner and mascara to make her eyes pop. She looked herself one last time in the mirror before hearing a knock on the door.

She grabbed her bag and ran down the stairs.

"And where do you think you're going young lady?" She heard her dad say. He was sitting on the couch watching baseball. She closed her eyes, totally forgetting about asking.

"I'm going to a bonfire with Liam. If that's okay?" He looked up at her with a smirk on his face. "Dad.. Stop it! We're just friends!" This made him smile even more.

"Just don't be home to late. You have the spare key right?" She nodded and opened the door. There Liam stood. He was leaning against the door frame looking out into the driveway where his car was. His wavy brown hair was again messy, yet suited him perfectly. When he saw her he didn't hide the fact that he was checking her out. She blushed and closed the door behind her.

"Let's go?" She asked. He nodded and unlocked the car. She got in and they were on their way. He blasted his music while having all the windows down. Her hair was blowing everywhere. She felt herself smiling and looked at him. His eyes were fixed on the road, his eyebrows creased a little from concentrating. She wanted to lightly touch him. She shook the thought out of her mind and scolded herself for even thinking about that. She held one hand out the window allowing the wind to trickle between her fingers. He looked at her and smiled. Twenty minutes later they made it to the bonfire.
