Chapter 13

Hope fluttered her eyes open and found herself looking into a pool of blue. Dylan smiled and leaned back, his weight making the bed slightly cave in. She quickly took ahold of her bedcovers and got under the blanket. She couldn't possibly think about how terrible she probably looked like right now. She heard him chuckle and tried to free her from her burrow.

"How did you get in?" She groaned; hating the way she sounded.

"Your parents let me in actually." She could hear the smile in his tone. "You know I think they like me..."

Hope started to count and as soon as she counted to three she ran out of her room into the bathroom. She put her hands on the counter and looked herself in the mirror. Her reflection looked back at her. Surprisingly she didn't look too tired. Her blonde hair however looked like a mop that was put on her head. It hung down her sides in tangled curls. Her brown eyes seemed golden today. Quickly she jumped into the shower and let herself soak in the water until her fingers looked like prunes. When she got out she brushed her teeth and went back into her room. Dylan was now lying on her bed as if it were something he always did. When he heard her open the door he looked up at her and broke into a grin.

"Hey Blondie. Looking good." He gave her a wink and she blushed.

"What's up with everyone coming to my house so early? What time is it anyways?"

"9..."

"Nine o clock???" Hope sighed. She should still be sleeping right now. She plopped herself down at the end of the bed and curled up into a ball. She closed her eyes and could feel herself dozing off but then felt his breath on her ear. She shivered. "Go get dress. We're going somewhere today." He whispered. She was going to argue with him but she heard the door shut behind him and the squeak of the stairs as he went to the living room.

They were driving for about 15 minutes and finally made it too a cute little doughnut shop that was hidden behind some trees. Dylan looked like a kid on Christmas morning. He seemed so much more enthusiastic than Hope had ever seen him.

"No one really knows about this place. I usually come here when I have nothing to do or if I'm upset. This was the place my parents would always take me as a kid." The atmosphere got really quiet and awkward. He cleared his throat and they started to walk. He held the door open for her and when they got in she could already smell the buttery, sweet goodness of the doughnut.

"We'll get 4 glazed doughnut bites. I'll have the chocolate filled raspberry doughnut." He looked at Hope.

"I'll have the banana coconut." The lady at the front looked like she was 45. Her smile was sincere and she had the most beautiful green eyes anyone would see. Her strawberry blonde hair was starting to turn dull and have a few streaks of gray running through it.

"Dylan are you gonna introduce me to this beautiful young lady?" Hope felt herself blush. She felt Dylan's hand move around her waist and he pulled her closer to him.

"Janice this is Hope."

"Hope, what a lovely name. Its nice to meet you." Hope looked up at the woman and felt herself blush when she saw a smile spread across her face.

"You to ma'am."

"She's a keeper." She whispered just loud enough for Hope to hear. She looked up at Dylan and saw that he was blushing. He looked down at Hope and winked at her. They got their doughnuts and sat in the booth.
