Chapter 7
Hope pulled on her Nike sweater and tied her free runs. She agreed to meet Skye at the movies for a girl’s night out. She wasn’t surprised when Madison already had plans with Liam to go see a new romantic movie. Hope didn’t even want to think of what they would be doing the whole time. She sighed and went down the stairs. She grabbed the keys opened the doors and left. The trip to the theatre wasn’t far, which Hope was happy about because if she came a second later the line would have been around the building. She quickly bought her tickets to the movie We're the Millers.
She turned her head trying to spot Skye’s bleach blonde hair. It took her a minute before seeing a girl doing the same thing she was; looking for someone. Hope came up behind Skye and tapped her back. Skye jumped but broke into a grin when she saw her. "Hope! It’s so good to finally see you! After the movie we should totally go to my house and sit outside on the patio. I can get the outdoor fireplace going and we can just talk." She loved how Skye never wanted to do anything dramatic. That’s why she liked Skye.
"I’m totally up for that! I’ve missed you and looks like I missed out on a lot!" Hope raised her eyebrows and she could see the blush that was forming on Skye’s face.
"Lets go inside or else we'll be late!" Skye took Hopes arm and led her inside to go buy popcorn and snacks while she bought the drinks. They met up by the theatre door and went inside.

After the movie was done Hope and Skye asked a stranger to take a picture for them by the billboard that had all the actors and actresses on there. Skye had told Hope how badly she had to use the restroom so before she knew it Hope was standing all by herself. She looked around the theatre not really sure what she was looking for. Then she spotted her familiar black curly hair that was put up in a ponytail. Before Madison could notice her, Hope quickly turned around and rounded the corner. She ran into someone’s hard chest, but when she felt the familiar, strong hands on her shoulder she looked up. His deep blue eyes had an amused look in them.
"Do you usually run into people?" HIs soft voice made her forget about Madison and Liam.
"Do you usually vanish like that?" She smirked at him noticing that they were still standing fairly close. She took a step back and saw that his black hair was tousled the same way it had been at the beach. In this light you could see that he was naturally dark. His tan was a perfect sun kiss color. He smiled at her remark and looked down at the floor. He rolled his tongue over his lips and looked into her eyes.
"I don’t think we've met. My names Dylan. Dylan Weber."
"Hope."
"It was nice bumping into you Blondie, but I have to go." Her heart skipped a beat when he called her that. He leaned across her. She went stiff when she felt how close his body was to hers. She could smell his shampoo that smelled like bark and the forest. He grabbed his jacket that was lying on the bench and before leaving he whispered into her ear a simple goodbye. Chills went down her spine as she watched him walk away, not turning back once.
Skye was waiting by the exit with a smirk on her face.
"Stop it." Hope said. They made their way out and drove to Skye’s house. When they arrived the fire pit was already going and the sofa was set. Hope sat down and covered herself with the blanket; the night breeze froze the tip of her nose. Skye came out with a cup of hot chocolate and sat across from her. For a second they sat there just like that. Looking at each other. Studying what changed about the other. It was a ritual they did and then when the other figured out what was different they would say if out loud. Usually Skye was always the one that noticed because Skye never did anything to change her appearance.
"I got it! You got Blonder highlights in your hair! It looks good!" She squealed.
"Well I don’t really notice anything different on the way you look, but you do have a boyfriend." At this Skye blushed and turned her heads towards the beach.
"Hope I’ve was meaning to ask... What’s up with you and Madison?"
"Nothing... Why?"
"You guys never talk anymore."
"She has Liam now."
Skye raised an eyebrow, "Oh come on Hope we both know that’s BS. You don’t have to lie to me.. Madison had past boyfriends and you two would still hang out even though she had him. This time its different I just can’t put my finger on it."
"Okay can I tell you something? But you have to PROMISE not to tell Madison."
"Promise."
"Okay well truth is.. I had feelings for Liam or I guess I have feelings for him. And not just the little crush thing going on. I really like him. But they seem happy together. I don’t want to intrude on that, plus you know how Madison is. She would never forgive me. But it doesn’t even matter."
"What do you mean it doesn’t matter? Of course it matters! You and Liam practically grew up together! Oh my gosh.. Now I totally get it. Remember how you guys would always fight when you were younger? That’s like the perfect movie picture. You guys are totally supposed to be together.."
"Skye that’s just a bunch of Crap... Liam and I are just friends. He’s with Madison not me. He has the right to choose who to be with. Plus its okay! I kinda have a thing for the new kid.. His names Dylan!"
"Oh my gosh this is perfect."
"What do you mean?"
"Our next bonfire is in two days. You should totally bring Dylan as your date and then Liam will notice what he’s missing out on. It will make him so jealous!"
"Skye! Madison is our friend. How could you do that?"
"Hope. You don’t understand.. What you and Liam have. Its once in a lifetime."
"People need to stop telling me that! It’s a bunch of BS!” Her phone rung, it was her dad probably wondering where she was at. “Um I have to go Skye but Ill see you at the bonfire? And don’t worry I will bring Dylan with me, but not for that reason."
They both got up and Skye walked Hope to her car and gave her a quick hug. "Have a goodnight Hope." With that she drove off making her way home.
