Chapter 5

"Where’s the bonfire?" Hope asked Liam as he got out of the car. The area they parked at had no street lamps, leaving the parking spot to look dark and scary. It seemed like they had stepped into a scene of a scary movie and the bad guys were gonna pop out of the bushes. Hope hurried over to Liam and stood close to him, their arms lightly brushed against each other. She pulled away when she felt electricity run through her body.

Liam looked down at her and chuckled, "Still scared of the dark?"

She stuck out her tongue. Liam took a step forward beginning to move towards the bushes, Hope quickly slid her arm around his. She hated the dark ever since Liam thought it would be funny to hide under her bed one night and scared her so hard that she wet the bed. Little did he know that it would scar her forever. It wasn’t just that though; nighttime held mysteries and secrets waiting to happen.

"Chill Star. Madison told me that we had to go through a path before getting to the beach. This is probably what she was talking about." Hope felt herself blushed when he called her that. When she was little she hated when Liam called her by her middle name and he would do it all the time, knowing that it made her mad. Now hearing the way it came out of his mouth she wanted to hear him say it again.

She held onto him tighter when the bushes on the path started to cave in making it so that one person could go through. She heard him chuckle and looked up at him astonished.

"You know Star, if you hold on any tighter you’re going to cut off my blood circulation." She looked down at her hand and loosened her grip not realizing how tight she was actually holding on.

"Sorry." she breathed out.

He continued walking and sure enough up ahead Hope could see the orange blaze from the fire. As she came into view she could see the group of teenagers sitting on logs that they had pulled to huddle around the fire. She let go of Liam’s hand because before she knew it she heard a screaming Madison running towards her with open arms, when Madison hugged her she nearly tackled Hope to the ground. She was wearing a short baby yellow dress that was just long enough to cover her bubbly butt. It hugged tightly onto her body showing off the curves that she had. It had a low V-neck showing cleavage an the purple bikini she was wearing underneath. Hope sighed knowing that Madison wore that specifically for Liam. When she looked over at him he was staring at Madison as if she were some mystical creature. Anger boiled through her veins. She knew it wasn’t her friend’s fault but Hope couldn’t stop the anger. When Liam’s eyes landed on Madison they stayed there taking in her beauty with awe.

Her perfect black curly hair spilled down her back and her light green eyes enchanted him. He seemed so captivate by her.  She felt hate towards Madison. dHow could she?  She let out a deep breath before a thought hit her. What am I doing? She asked herself, Madison had been her best friend from way back in the days. They both learned how to ride bikes together. Madison clearly said that she called dibs on Liam. It was no use anyways. Liam never looked at Hope the way he was looking at Madison.

Before she knew what was happening, Madison was dragging her down to the beach. Her friend turned around and gave Liam a flirtatious smile telling him to wait for her to get back. He nodded and took a seat by his friends who were talking about some special game.

"OH EM GEE Hope did you see the way he was looking at me? He totes thinks I’m hot right?" Surprisingly the anger that Hope once held was gone. She was glad that her friend was happy. Now all she had to do was back off and allow her friend to be with Liam. Hope giggled and nodded at her friend. "I cannot believe that it was Liam. When I first saw him at the store I was wondering who that hottie was, you know? And then when I found out it was Liam I freaked!"
