"Morning, darling." Draco tried to whisper but his morning voice was gravelly and deep. Somehow, the sound was sand-paper smooth to Harry's ears. Turning in Draco's arms, Harry faced his boyfriend and smiled at him- Draco thought Harry looked like an angel.
Harry sighed, comfortable to remain in their little world, "Mornin' Dragon." He lightly ran his fingers along Draco's jaw then kissed his cheek- Draco never kissed him until his teeth were brushed. After that, Draco nuzzled his cheek as they both were starting to wake up from a peaceful rest with the curtains closed.
"Rise and shine!" Blaise broke through the drapes, throwing then open without a care in the world. Groaning, Draco re-burried his head in his moulded pillow, tucking his arms under it and grumbled into the case. "Come on, get up!" Blaise pursued, this time yanking the covers off them both.
In the Great Hall, Draco scanned it all this time. He hadn't done that since the first day everyone had been resorted in Fifth Year. People were sitting, well, everywhere! Ravenclaws with the Hufflepuffs, Hufflepuffs at the Gryffindors, Gryffindors at the Slytherin. It was a mish-mash of the four colours completely! The teachers still sat in their respective seating, but they spoke more than before.
"Morning, girls." Draco said, sitting opposite Pansy and Harry sat opposite Hermione at the Slytherin table. Neville and Blaise didn't look up from their conversations when Luna sat next to Blaise so she was opposite Ginny.
"Good morning, Black." Hermione addressed him.
Harry rolled his eyes, "When are you two going to call each other your first names?"
He smirked to his smaller boyfriend, "When we're dead, love. She'll always be Granger-"
"And he'll always be Black,"
"Even when he becomes a Potter." Pansy added and Hermione hit her on the shoulder for it, whispering in her ear something that Pansy replied with, "They're literally inseperable."
While those three had their conversations (to do with lesson, so Harry definitely would have tuned out of that one anyway) Harry couldn't stop the whirring, whirling, whirling, whirling phrase Pansy had said. 'Even when he becomes a Potter.' She knows he won't live past the war. Harry knows he won't live past the war. Eventually, Draco will move on and become a Peter or a Parton or whatever last name the man he decides to marry.
There will be no 'I do' at the altar. There will be no house. There will be no kids. Because Harry knows he won't live to see little Draco's and Harry's running around. Never will Harry be able to wake up next to Draco and think 'we're gonna grow old together' because that won't happen! Before today, he hadn't given much thought to it (neither had anyone else if they're letting Pansy's comment slide straight past as a joke). But now? That was all he could think of.
He'll never be there when Laitan and Teddy go off to Hogwarts for their first time. And he won't be there for Remus or Sirius anymore.
"Hey, are you alright?" Draco asked him, breaking through the fragile window with a ripped curtain covering it. Concern laced his voice and, smiling sadly, Harry put his hand ontop of Draco's to squeeze it and whisper back he was okay, bringing Draco's hand up and kissing it.
Trying so very hard not to blush, Draco sneered, scoffed and turned away, back to his conversation with Hermione and Pansy.
"-they have to be a thing." Pansy stated like it was true.
Confused, Harry spoke up, "Er- who are dating?"
"She thinks Ginny and Luna are together." Hermione told him as she stole a strawberry off Pansy's plate and Pansy turned red, looking at her with those eyes. Harry wondered if that's how he looks at Draco: like he was the only thing in the world at he was absolutely beautiful, even more so than the perfect nature surrounding him.
