The ride to the hospital was 20 minutes. It was the longest 20 minutes of my life. I looked out my window, flashes of what Hunter might look like came to the front of my mind. I felt my eyes water, letting one tear fall down my cheek. I felt Sams arm come around my shoulder, pulling me close. I hugged him.. Feeling so lonely. He looked down at me.
"He's gonna be ok, Belle." he told me. I looked up at him. I felt like half of me was missing. "He's strong, you know this." he added. I nodded. Hunter is strong, he can do it.
We sat in silence. When we got to the hospital, Chris dropped Sam and I off at the front. We quickly got out, I stumbling first. I waited for Sam to follow, closing the door behind him. Chris rolled down the window, Matt leaned back so Chris could speak to us.
"We'll catch up, what room again?" he asked. I replied back with the number and than Chris rolled the window back up. I spun back around and walked through the automatic doors. I hurriedly walked to the front desk where a man sat behind the counter, typing on his computer.
"I need to get to room 517." I spoke firmly. He didn't look up.
"We're not aloud to send people to that room, but I'll gladl-" he started saying, till he looked up. He noticed who I was right away. A couple people in the waiting room noticed who I was too, pointing and whispering. "Go ahead up, floor 4..sorry for the wait." he spoke. I thanked him, hustling over to the elevator, quickly hitting the arrow up. I waited for the elevator, which took too long. When it opened, their were a couple people. I let them go, and then Sam and I walked in. The people turned back to me before the doors closed, realizing who I was.
I hit the number 4, patiently waiting. When the doors opened, nobody was in the hallway. Straight ahead was the front desk. The lady, who was beautiful, looked right up to me.
"Hello Mrs.Hayes, room 517. He's been waiting." she flashed her gorgeous white smile. I thanked her, and followed where her finger pointed me to go. Sam followed quickly behind me. He stayed behind me, looking at the room numbers to the left, while I looked the right. Then I realized the odds where on the left. We got to room 515, and I saw the door of his room closed. I looked up at Sam, my eyes full of worry. He looked down at me and realized how nervous I was. He stopped me as I walked up to the door. He took my wrist, turning straight to him. He looked me in the eyes.
"Belle. When you and Hunter got married, Hunter told me that if anything ever happened to him, he wanted me to always look after you. I promised him that I would, which is why I'm here, I'm always going to comfort you if Hunter can't. I promise he'll be ok. I promise." he spoke. A few tears came down my cheek, as I bowed my head, looking down at my feet. I watched on tear hit the tile. "Now give me a hug." he said, opening his arms. I stumbled into them, letting all the tears out. He hugged me close, protecting me. I looked up into his eyes.
"Thank you." I faintly let out. He nodded, releasing. I slowly walked up to the door. I took a deep breath, closing my eyes.
"You can do it." Sam said. I nodded, opening the door, and their he was.
