R I O N AAfter it was decided that I'll be the team leader, I took out a piece of paper and wrote down my name then passed it over to Keith and the girl next to us whose name turned out to be Fiona.
"Let's do the easy one." Keith pointed at the spring experiment when the list of available practicals was passed to us.
"I agree." The brunette girl agreed.
"Life's all about taking risks, I suggest we do the Law Of Reflection." I countered and they looked at me like I had two heads.
" Will we be able to pull it off?" Keith asked with a concerned look.
"Well whenever I do practicals, I always want to challenge myself. The summary and procedure looks quite easy." I answered in a reassuring tone.
" Do you have a problem with it?" Keith asked the brunette girl.
" N-" She paused when she had a hiccup then put her hand over her mouth and shook her head repeatedly.
"Are you okay? I'll go and get you water." He excused himself and exited the classroom.
Her hiccups stopped when he dashed out of the lab and let out an exasperating sigh as she took a seat.
I glanced at her once again to observe her features. Her brown curly hair was packed up in a full bun which highlighted her chubby cheeks and freckles which rested on under her black eyes. She was undeniably pretty but she looked like she had confidence issues seeing as how she always has her head lowered.
"Here!" Keith returned with a bottle of water which he opened for her to drink.
She gulped down almost half the water before setting it to rest on the white colored table top.
"Thank you." Her tiny voice appreciated. "I'm sorry for being such a bother, I know we're lagging way behind because of me." She played with the hem of her knitted red sweater.
My eyes scanned the whole lab and she was right, most people had already started with their practical but I had all the confidence in my abilities.
"It's alright, your health is most important." Keith patted her shoulder.
" It's fine, it's all fine." I reassured them.
" So tell us what to do captain." He gave a salute to me.
"First, I'll need someone to get the equipments we need and then someone to take down the reading, I'll do the experiment and write the final report." I summarized.
"I'll get the stuff!" Keith beamed and left to the storage room.
" Then I guess I'll take down the readings then!" Fiona smiled a little.
" Great!" I took the list of names and put in the title of our experiment.
I grabbed the manual and decided to read through the practical so I know each and every detail.
"I've got everything!" Keith announced to us as he dropped a few items on the table.
"Ray box with a slit?" I questioned.
"Is it this?" He lifted a small wooden box which comes with a space for a bulb and a small hole in the center.
Check.
"A bulb?"
"Check!" He lifted it up.
"Optics screen?"
"Check!"
"Plain mirror with the holder?"
" Yes!"
" A protractor, white plain paper and a pencil?"
" Check, check, check!"
" Great let's begin." A smile spread across my face.
We took out our lab coats and out them on, since my hair was already in it's usual ponytail, there was no need for me to pack it up again.
I connected the bulb into the wooden Ray box then placed my plane mirror in front of it. The single slit was placed in front of the ray box while a single beam pointed towards the mirror.
We drew our line on the white paper at 90° from the center of the mirror which was our normal.
After some time we were able to get easily our angle of incidence and also the angle of reflection.
We finished with our practical even before some others did.
"You're so smart, I like it." Keith commented and I rolled my eyes.
" I can't believe we were able to pull this off, it's all thanks to you, Riona." Her very tiny feminine voice complimented.
"We all did our parts." I replied to her so they could both stop praising me because it felt very uncomfortable.
"How about we go down to Joe's café and grab lunch over there? My treat?" Keith offered.
" No thank you." I immediately declined. "I'll have lunch in school." I completed.
"It's alright, then how about we have all have lunch together?"
"That's a great idea!" Fiona clapped her hands excitedly.
" I like having lunch on my own."
" Come on!" He whined all over again. "To celebrate our new partnership." He raised his brows.
" This is just a one time thing, don't get ahead of yourself."
"Come on!" He stressed then paused. " Come on Rie!" He emphasized on the Rie.
Why does he like doing this?!
"Yeah come on!" Fiona insisted.
"Fine!" I rolled my eyes and let out a frustrated groan.
He grabbed on to my hand firmly and lead the way while Fiona followed behind us.
I stared at our hands clasped together, why didn't it give me the same spark I felt when Leonardo held my hand the first time?
Why are you thinking of Leonardo though, when this lunatic boy is holding your hand and leading you to the cafeteria in front of everyone?
Wait.
I was brought back to reality when my brain reminded me of where I was. People already started whispering.
"L-"
"Hey Leo! Did you have lunch already?" Keith's voice interrupted me.
Leo?
My heart felt some sort of shock when Leonardo came in front us with a straight face on.
His eyes drifted down to my hand and Keith's hand clasped together then to my face which I immediately dropped then back to Keith's face.
"I'm having lunch out." He paused. "What about you guys? Having lunch together?" He asked.
"Yes, so are you having lunch with Leah?" Keith asked.
Leah?
"Actually..." He trailed off. "I wanted to go out for lunch with Kara." He answered with a smile.
Kara?
