L E O N A R D OI leaned against the wall as I waited for Riona to return from the doctors office with a positive response but after waiting for a while and no response, I decided to go down to the reception.
"Good day." I greeted the nurse at the counter.
"May I help you?" She asked in a polite tone but kept her eyes glued to the computer in front of her.
"Yes, I came with Riona? Riona Davis and I noticed she tried to pay for something else even though the operation fee has been paid for, is there a new charge or something that she still needs to pay?" I inquired and the nurse looked at me before typing away on the computer.
"There is no extra charge, I think she isn't aware that the fee has been paid already but I think she will be informed by the doctor in charge of her father's case." She informed me.
"Okay then, thank you." I smiled and walked back upstairs.
So then she has been carrying the burden of raising such a huge amount for days? I wonder how many part time jobs she had to be able to raise the amount she did.
I got back upstairs and sat on the soft white chair at the waiting room.
Would she be upset when she realizes I was the one who asked my mom to pay? She might feel like I'm intruding because she has a history of always misunderstanding the things I do.
The door pushed open and there she stood like she was frozen at the spot but maintained direct eye contact with me.
Her eyes weren't laced with fury like how it was a couple of hours ago when she came face to face with that lady nor was it laced with fear like it was the last time we were here together.
This time her eyes shined differently even with her glasses on, I could tell.
She paused like she was in deep thought before running to hug me.
Initially I was shocked but after a second I hugged her back and stroked her hair.
"Thank you! Thank you!" She murmured as she kept her hands wrapped around me.
"It's fine honestly." I replied.
"No it's not! I-I had made a decision but then you go and do this, why did you have to put me in this situation?" She sniffled. "Since we met all I've done is misunderstand and blame you for things but you don't get mad and instead you help me, why?" She questioned.
"Because whenever you make a mistake, you always apologize and if I'm being honest, I feel the reason I can't be upset with you is because I like you but I totally understand if you're still healing from your past rela-"
"Let's not mention the past here." She said finally pulling away from my grasp.
Why did she let go that way? Did she feel uncomfortable because of how hard my heart was pounding?
"I'm the wrong person to feel something for," she sighed as she took a seat. "If you knew the things I've done you wouldn't even want to look at me."
"The way I feel for you would never change Riona."
"You say that because you don't know!" She yelled.
What happened to her?
"I don't know what?! You're scaring me!" I said with my voice slightly raised.
"Your life would be in danger if you knew, it already is and the least I can do after giving me hope for my dad is to tell you the truth."
"What truth?"
"You know I've never been one to beat around the bush so I'll just say it." She took a deep breath before she continued. "I'm a hired killer." She confessed.
What?
"What? What do you mean you're a hired killer?" I wore a confused expression and looked her in the eye.
"Yes, I kill people for money. I've killed over ten different people and I recently got word that I'm supposed to kill your mother." She confessed further.
"What?" I couldn't help but feel shocked and that's when it came back to me. "Was that the decision you made? You decided that you were going to murder my mom in cold blood?" I questioned and I took a step back.
"Leonardo list-"
"Oh my God! You were really going to kill my mother?!"
"I swear I had no other choice, it was either her or my family."
"Just tell me one thing, who wants my mother dead and why?!"
She hesitated before answering, "Keith."
K-Keith?
"Stop lying! What does he have to do with any of this?"
"I'm not lying! I swear Keith orchestrated all this! The misunderstandings and he was the one who paid my agency to murder your mom because he knew I wouldn't be able to do it but will be forced to because the life of my siblings would be in danger!" She walked up to me.
I ran my hand through my hair as I processed the information she was telling me.
"We can get the cops involved and every-."
"No, no cops!" She immediately refused. "I can fix this, give me a chance and I'll fix this. Nothing is going to happen to your mother, trust me!" She pleaded.
Can I really trust her?
"You don't need to trust me but I really want to do this as a way to thank you for helping my dad so please just let me."
"This is my mother's life we're talking about here!"
"I understand how important she is to you and that's why I want to help you because you were only dragged into this because of me."
"Alright fine but I want you to keep me updated at all times."
"Then would you do me a favor?"
"Tell me."
"Please don't tell anybody about the conversation that we've had today also please don't act any different to Keith, make him feel like he's still in control of everything. That is all I need from you."
"Fine! Please promise me that your plan will work."
"It will, I will make sure it does. The goal is for all of us to come out alive."
"I trust you."
