"Lex, I'm here, we're all here, we've got you."
She looked up, eyes wide.
"JJ, your dad- how could I, how can I- he's done, so many times, so much worse. God, why am I complaining. I can't, I can't complain- he was gonna, but your dad, I just-"
Alexis stood up and backed away from everyone, hardly being able to see through the tears and her swollen eye.
"I can't, I can't- I need to-"
She attempted to run to the road, away from the others, but JJ caught her around her waist. She was screaming, thrashing around trying to get loose but JJ's grip was strong.
John B stepped forward to help, but the blonde boy shook his head mouthing 'let her get it out'.
"JJ GET OFF, JJ LET GO, PLEASE- I CAN'T-"
She stopped fighting and fell limp in his chest, sobbing uncontrollably. Her arms slowly snaked around his shoulders.
"I don't understand why he does this to me. He, he loves me, why would he hurt someone he loves?."
JJ held her as she cried, his face looking like he could kill.
Slowly, he put her down and let the others embrace her in turn. All the boy wanted to do was hurt her dad for hurting his girl.
His girl. No. That's wrong, sure he flirted with her but he didn't like her.
Shaking that thought off, the blonde boy cupped her face in his hands, she looked up at him with wide eyes.
"Lex, I want you to listen to me. That isn't what love looks like okay? We've got you now, he won't- he won't ever be able to hurt you again, I promise."
"He hates me doesn't he?"
"Look at me," he gently pushed Alexis backwards so she could see he was being sincere, she looked away, "hey, look at me. We'll do this together, look I know this shit, better than anyone. I'm gonna help you, okay?"
"We all will."
