chapter 5

It surprised me.I've never heard him say my name before.

I turned around still shocked that he even talked to me.

“I'm..im sorry..”He sais almost whispering.

I give him a light smile and walk towards his bed sitting beside him.

“Im sorry for being mean to you..im just mad I guess.”Sam sais looking down.

“Mad?”I question at the statement he said.

“Yea..I guess I was mean to you because..I felt like nobody pays attention to me..”He sais his voice cracking.

I didn't know what to do.hug him?

“Im sorry”I say.”I never thought that you would be feeling that way..”

Maybe it was a good thing that i was leaving.Karie and David would have one less ‘kid’ to take care of.But maybe even then with Alex,Tony,and Nancy It would still be the same for Sam.

He pulled his hair back causing his sleeve to fall down a bit.I grabbed his wrist.”Sam,No.promise me to not do it again”I say.He pulls his hand away from my hand.”Please dont tell mom”He pleads.

I sigh.

“Sam I won't..but don't do it again.”I tell him.

He had many cuts.Some were really red which meant that they were freshly new.

“Im sorry..”He sais with a soft cry.

I sighed and hugged him.This felt really odd but I felt really bad for him.Now I realized he didn’t get much attention.

He let go of the hug and we sat there in silence.

“You ok?”I ask.

He nods and struggled to smile.Wow.For the first time he smiles at me.

“you should smile more often.It catches the girls attention you know?”I say jokingly trying to ease the tention of awkwardness.He rolls his eyes.
“So you were leaving?”He sais leaning against the wall making me smile.

“Jessi?”Karie sais knocking on the door before opening it.

“oh,I thought you were in Alex and Tonys room?”She sais giving us a weird look.

“But umm Anthony is here.Hes waiting for you in the living room..”She sais.”Ok”I respond and she closes the door.

I look back at Sam.

“I guess i'm leaving..”I say exaggerating my words trying to sound happy.I stand up and start to walk.

“You know you're a better sister than Nancy?”He sais.I grinned at that.

“I kinda knew that”I say turning back to him smiling.

I then started to walk towards the door.

“Wait!”He sais making me turn around.

“I feel really weird right now so can I?”He sais standing up looking at the door then back at me.

I smiled.I knew exactly what he meant.

“ok,go ahead”I say.

He then starts to push me gently out the door.

before he closes it I rub my hand through his hair completely messing it up.

He flinches backwards and keeps pushing me out gently until i'm outside.I turn around facing the door.I smile while he slams the door in my face but this time more softly then he usually did.when I would try to talk to him and be friends with him but always ended up with the door literally slammed in my face.

I grabbed my suitcase from the hallway and walked towards the living room.

I saw Anthony,David and Karie all sitting down.

“Hello”I say walking in.

“Hey”Anthony sais smiling.”Ready to go?”

I nod yes not to excited.

David opens the front door and we all exit.I hugged David and then Karie.I was about to walk to Anthony's car when I heard little Alex say my name beside David.And Tony to the other side.

Alex ran over to me and I hugged him.I let go and started to look through my suitcase.

I took it out and smiled.I handed it over to Alex.

“Here”I say.”Hes yours now.Hes really important so I want you to take good care of him for me”I say.

He nods and hands me something.He hands me a necklace.”No Alex its yours-”I say.

“I want you to keep it”He sais cutting me off.

I smile.”Ok”I whisper.

Then Tony comes and I hug him as well.

“I love you guys ok.Never forget that”I say hugging them.

I let go and they go back to david.

Karie comes and takes me towards the car while Anthony goes inside starting up his car.

I hug Karie one last time.”Sam is going through some stuff.He needs of your attention more often”I tell her still hugging her.She lets go.”Ok”she sais almost whispering.She then hands me my diploma.”Congratulations”She tells me smiling.”Thank you”I say.

I get in the car and look over at Anthony.

“Ready?”He sais.I nod.

I look over to the window side and see them on the little brick path.

I smiled at little Alex holding my bear in his hand hugging it.I raise my hand and hold the necklace he gave me around my neck.Anthony starts to drive and I see as the house gets smaller and smaller.I missed them already…
