Chapter 21 - Bonds

Kai's POV

"Blue is my favourite colour too!" Lance squeals excitedly and I beam at him.

Lance is so much fun to be around! I already feel like we have so much in common, to the point where it feels like he's my long lost brother!

I've always wanted a brother. I think it would have been easier growing up with one around. That way I wouldn't have needed to deal with my mother's death all alone. I would have had a comrade, a partner in crime, someone to share the burden.

"You two look cozy," Zorander snarls, causing me to shriek at his harsh, unexpected voice, and I turn around to find him standing in the middle of the living room smirking at us.

"Where's Raziel?" I question, trying to peer around the demon to see my boyfriend. I giggle involuntarily at that word. Boyfriend. I still can't believe it! The angel Raziel is my boyfriend!

Zorander makes himself comfortable on the one seater across from Lance and me before responding. "He's watching over Declan."

I nod but pout a little. I really hope he comes back soon, not only because I miss him but because I'm trying really hard not to be intimidated by Zorander's aura. Now that I can see the thick, black silhouette fanning out from his body, he is much more terrifying. Not to mention the fact that Raziel isn't here to help balance out the suffocatingly grim feeling radiating from Zornader's body.

"Can I order food to your house while I wait?" I ask Zorander, cringing slightly at the crack in my voice.

"Are you scared, human?" Zorander snickers at the audible gulp that I take.

"I'll just order some pizza," I mumble. Trying my best to ignore the demon, I reach into my jacket pocket and pull out my phone.

"He won't hurt you, he's too scared of Raziel," Lance whispers.

"Shhhh! Don't provoke him!" I whisper back, stealing a quick glance at Zorander who is still smirking and looking at us with mild interest.

"The hollow is right. I won't hurt you but not because I'm scared of Raziel but because I'm... intrigued by Raziel's relationship with you." Zorander grunts.

I tilt my head curiously, looking at the enigma sitting across from me. "So you'll hurt me if you're no longer intrigued?"

A chilling laugh escapes Zorander and he shakes his head. "I don't think it's possible for that to happen." He shifts his attention towards Lance. "You can go by the way. Raziel can return once you do."

"Okay! I'll see you around, Kai." Lance's smile morphs into a frown and he clears his throat before speaking. "I don't want you to feel like you have to help Declan because of me. I won't hold it against you if you decide not to help him."

"It's alright. I'll listen to what he has to say." Lance nods in response before disappearing.

Suddenly, a pink flash appears in the middle of the room, quickly subsiding to leave a breathtaking Raziel standing in its wake. I gasp when I see his captivating light pink aura. "Pretty!" I can't help but exclaim as I watch his sparkling aura dancing around him. It sways and flickers as if shifting in the wind, luring me closer and letting me know that everything will be alright.

Raziel approaches me with a wide smile and starts peppering kisses all over my face making me giggle. "Did you miss me?" Raziel asks in between kisses.

I shake my head, giggling at him. "Nope," I say popping the p. Raziel pouts and I giggle and lightly press my lips to his. "Of course I did!" I say with a huge grin, practically throwing myself into his arms. I really like doing that! He always catches me and squeezes me tightly whenever I do that. It makes me feel so safe and secure.
