I bought this Xbox at a yard sale and I think somethings wrong...

So my name is Aurora (yes I know, like that sleeping beauty princess...mom watched it too many times when she was pregnant with me...) and I live in a small town in the north, and when I say small town, I mean like everyone in town goes to the same super market, clothing stores, and schools. There's no such thing as secrets here, or even anything new and exciting. Or, so I had thought.

I'm a huge gamer chick and living in a small town, where the nearest game store is many many MANY miles away at a walmart, is the most tragic thing.

So any chance I get to aquire a new device or game that isn't just another copy of Call of Duty ( sorry but that's all anyone knows about around here), I would sell my soul for the chance. Sometimes I really wish I wasn't so desperate. when I saw a yard sale going on at one of the old estates, I nearly ran over a squirrel to get there. ( no squirrels were harmed in this post!) The reason why I was so excited about this yard sale, was because a rich family lived here, who had a son that was constantly getting new games. He always bragged about it, though I still never understood how he got them. Internet was a theory but I don't even think the world knew we existed In order to be able to deliver anything. I pulled up with my old buggie, parking it behind some other cars and nearly ran up to the packed lawn. I stared at the scattered things, searching with hungry eyes untill I spotted the holy grail of devices and games. I bounced happily over at the table and started picking out a galore of games for a buck. I was shocked, if anything, the kid I remembered would have made people grovel at his feet for these. I got this nagging feeling as I eyed the items, but froze when I discovered something incredible. Beside the cheap games, was an Xbox 360, but not just ANY 360. It was a beautiful work of art upon itself, completely custom and one of a kind looking. It was the newest model ( well newer than the white original I had that died on me at home), and it had the most realistic looking zombies on them that I've ever seen. It even had a sticker on it saying it was only 10 bucks...I was slightly concerned at the amazingly, fantastic price. It had to come with some kind of catch right? I still grabbed it and a stack of games, some for my original gameboy, and many for the 360. I peered around in search for the owners and spotted them. They we're an older couple, but as I came closer, they seemed much older than I remembered them. Dark bags under their eyes, hair slightly messy, which was out of character for the high maintenence family they usually protreyed. " Hello Mr. And Ms. Turner, how much for all these?" I had asked, and the look of sorrow they gave me made me shiver. What exactly happened? "Those were Samus's favorites..." Ms. Turner had said which had made me even more worried. 'Were'?, I wanted to ask, but their eyes made me fear the answer. They then added up the stickers and I hurried away to the car. I bet he went off to college and they were just missing him I had convinced myself. I had totally forgotten to ask why the Xbox was so cheap as well by the time I was home and setting it up in my room.

After setting up, I soon lost myself in playing the new games I aquired that my worries had vanished. I played quite a few for hours, many were names I had never heard of which thrilled me. One of which was ironically a zombie game called Left 4 Dead, which totally freaked me out , though I just could not stop. I was creeping in some swamp area, the crickets chirping, the water beneath my characters boots splashing, when I saw what I had assumed was a really tall zombie a few feet away . I thought it was a spitter at first ( which is this female zombie that spits green acid at you) and nearly shot it but I paused my step for some reason. It was so dark and stood under a looming tree, the only thing I could see was it's glowing white eyes. I leaned forward on my bean bag to get a better look and I felt my heart beat faster, fearing stepping any closer to the thing.

All of a sudden a door in my house had slammed, making me squeal like a little girl and fly across my room. My heart was beating at the speed of sound as I stared at my open door way with wide eyes. I held my breath as I attempted to hear anything else. A quick glance at my clock told me it was 8:00 , which made a cold chill run down my back. It couldn't be my dad, he didn't get home till 10 from the police station. I immediately grabbed the closest thing to a weapon I owned which was a Guitar hero guitar ( that was really all I had...) and slowly crept into the hall with it hovering over my shoulder like a bat. Somewhere downstairs, as I passed the railing over the stairway, I heard really soft footsteps. Behind me was the sound of the growling zombies, which didn't help my panic any. No lights had been turned on by anyone who had entered so I knew then that father didn't return early. I quietly made my way down the stairs, lip quivering . As I passed my front door, and headed towards the sound of the intruder, I noticed the front door locked. A sound then drew my attention from the doorknob and I saw him. He stood infront of the doorway of my dining room, the moons light shining in back of him which only highlighted his tall frame. I screamed when I saw his white glowing eyes on me causing me to instinctivly throw my Guitar hero at him. I heared a thud noise as I ran screaming at the top of my lungs. loud Stomping noises followed in pursuit of me not shortly after, and I could hear this deep hissing sound coming from him, or It, or whatever the hell it was. I could hear him getting closer as I dogged the living room furniture, and even in my scared pantless state, I knew he would catch me. So I took my final stand and leapt in the bathroom infront of the kitchen, quickly locking it. The banging I heared, and the shaking of the bathroom had caused me to pee myself. I felt in my bones I was about to die. The hissing the man made was so horrible, and I felt like it's hot breath filled the dark bathroom, surrounding me as I cowered in the bathtub. It felt like hours when the noise of his breathing disappeared and I had finally heared the sound of my dad getting home. He was on alert the moment he stepped in and even had a squad of his fellow officers behind him. I came out of the bathroom sobbing for my daddy, with wet pajama pants like I was a little kid that wet the bed and saw the boogyman. But that was exactly how I felt, and I could have cared less that the whole town would know by morning.

The officers spent a few hours checking the house, getting statements from me and the neighbors , before they left. My dad wouldn't let me out of his sight after I cleaned myself and he lead me up to my room. Though, he took one glance at the TV and had a look on his face. I recognized that look even before he confirmed them. He didn't believe me, he thought the video game caused my paranoia and from my long shifts at work, made me sleepy and prone to delusions. I nearly believed him, what if I had been imagining things? But no. The sound of the door, his hissing, the hot breath, we're all too real that I could still feel it all even now. When he had left, I was about to turn off my Xbox when I saw my character lying on the ground, twitching. The thing under the tree was gone and none of the computer characters were around, which was almost nearly an impossible scenario. I shut it off and switch to some random happy movie to calm me down...but as I stared at the xbox, lying in my bed, I'm wondering what feelings to believe and what not to. Am I just being paranoid..?
