I don't know why I did it. I should have never clicked on that link. That's not me. Reddit has become an addiction for me in the short time that I have been registered to the site. Sure, I have my guilty pleasures. Yeah, I look through the porn subs because, hell, they are the shit. But for the most part, I am an average guy. Nothing special here folks. So when I was looking through the comments of an innocent enough post and I came across this comment that included the little blue link for /r/watchpeopledie, I can honestly tell you that I was not in control of my hand.
...Or maybe I was, and I just had some morbid curiosity that needed fulfilling. I don't know, but that really is beside the point.
The content there is the stuff of nightmares. These videos make you feel like an absolute tool for ever having said "that's some fucked up shit" before going there. If you don't immediately puke, or click out, you find yourself oddly drawn in. There is something about watching these so over-the-top brutal videos that's like a train wreck you can't look away from. For instance: a train wreck. But with an unaware pedestrian. And his guts explode out both ends like some fucked up tube of toothpaste. I hated myself more and more each second I continued watching. The comments there at least didn't seem to have been written by complete psychopaths. In fact, any stupid teenage idiocy was downvoted straight to hell. Exactly where it belonged... not that it mattered.
In one, a man was kneeling in a clearing with a woman pointing a gun at the back of his head. It was some South American country, and their voices were unintelligible. It didn't matter. The actions spoke for themselves. The woman attempts to splatter his brains across the rain forest, but her gun jams. She curses and shakes it around, re-cocking it. Tries to fire again, gun jams again. All the while, the man is still just kneeling there, basically motionless. Apparently, he just accepted his fate. Finally, she points her gun for a third time, and God help me it fired. The man falls over, dead or dying. The woman and a third man, just rubbing salt in the wound, move over him and fire again and again into his skull. Overkill.
The next video I watched, I don't think I'll ever be able to un-see. It must have started midway through the killing. An African man or teenager (it was pretty grainy, thank Zenu) with a bloodied white shirt was laying on the ground, with the camera looking directly over him. Nothing happened for a relatively blissful few seconds, until a shotgun creeped onto the screen from the bottom corner. It pointed directly at the mans forehead. He made no attempt to move and I can only assume he was unconscious.
Oh fuck. This isn't happening
Suddenly, and without sound, the shotgun erupted and instantly the face was no more. Blood. Everywhere. The inside of the back of the man's skull was unnaturally visible. It looked like someone had cut his face down the middle and moved the halves apart by almost 6 inches. One of the eyes was still in tact, and I had this really uneasy feeling that it was somehow still looking at the camera. A dead, accusing stare. Apparently, his murderers must have thought this too because, as in the previous video, they unloaded all of their ammo into this poor man. Completely inhuman.
Yeah, I know what you're thinking. Totally fucked up shit, right? The really messed up thing is, it's all still there on the site. But I wouldn't go if I were you. You see, the atrocities I've described, while deplorable, are not the reason I'm writing this now.
The last video I watched on that godforsaken sub scared me literally shitless. "Insane man beheads guy with hack saw" was the title. It was 45 of the worst seconds of my life. I immediately recognized my bedroom door.
You can imagine the rest.
The worst part wasn't really even watching my neck sawed open. It was the audio that accompanied it. Tendrils snapping, bones cracking, and a gurgling that sounded way too similar to the bubbles you blow into your drink as a kid. My wife didn't even wake up until the job was almost halfway done. The psycho was efficient. That horrified look on her face will haunt me for the rest of my most likely short life.
You see, right before the video cut out, the man turned the camera upwards toward the TV. Adult Swim was showing Family Guy - the episode where Stewie and Brian explore the multiverse. I just checked the guide, and that episode is playing at 2:30 am tonight.
Since I probably am doomed myself, I figured the least I could do is warn some of you guys. So yeah, don't go to /r/watchpeopledie.
But hey, if you don't believe me and go anyway, at least the people there are nice. Right?
