I've been here a week and still don't feel comfortable calling Molly and Arthur, mom and dad. Everyone has been so nice to me. Even Ron, my twin, that sounds weird saying that but I've always been alone.I sleep in the same room as Ginny and she helps me prepare for Hogwarts. Although, I am scared to go there as I will be a year behind. Molly told me Arthur is going to see if Dumbledore will let me go in as a second year so I can be in the same group as Ron. Our letters are due any day and that means I have to travel to get my school things and my wand. I am scared for this too as I haven't been around crowds of people and they scare me.

Molly comes into the bedroom and helps me stand and hugs me. She takes my hand and pulls me down to the kitchen. I see the man, I know as Dumbledore, standing there. On the table is a likened books, cloaks, an owl, cauldrons, lots of items. A broom stick and a wand. He hands it to me and I feel a warmth rush through me as I hold it.

"This is the one. I knew I selected right." He says to me. "These things are for the school year. I have decided to let you start as a second year, as I have high hopes you will catch up fast. You have strong magic in your blood."

"Thank you, sir." I say.

"You have some time to settle in. I have also provides a set of books from last year for you as well. I suggest you read them and try to catch up. I've cleared it with the Ministry that she can use magic here for now until the day she leaves for school. Only her, they know her wands signature." Dumbledore tells Molly.

"We will assist her, thanks." Molly tells him.

He disappears again and Molly calls a trunk into the room. She packs everything inside and calls Charlie to take it up to my room so I can begin to prepare. I hug her and she kisses my head.

"Even though we believed you to be dead, we love you. You are our daughter. I know you aren't comfortable Calkins us mom and dad yet, though I hope you will be soon." She says softly, "Can you tell us who raised you?"

"I don't know their names. I just know what they look like." I tell her, honestly. "I never heard their names used. They hid me when company was over. No one knew I existed. I was only allowed out of my room when my father... I mean... The man who raised me, wasn't home. He didn't like the risk of someone seeing me."

"Why did they let you go now?"

"He was killed while trying to break into Azkaban. My mother... I mean... Oh, God, I am sorry. She told me he made someone angry and that they killed him and were after her next. If they knew about me, I would be hunted next. She referred how they got me. She told me that."

"Don't be sorry, dear. They were mom and dad to you for twelve years. How could you not call them that. We hope to be mom and dad soon, but we know you need time. We love you, that's all that matters to us now that we have you."

I smile and hug her tighter. She released me and I go into my room to begin my reading. Morgan and Charlie are outside watching the others play a game and I have the room to myself. I grab the books marked year one and my wand and sit on my bed. Before I know it I am trying wand holding techniques and testing spells. I am glad when I see I get successes from just a few. I move onto reading about potions, and defense against the dark arts. I don't attempt anything from these books. Soon Ginny comes in.

"You've been working hard. You've had success I see." She says.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to hurt anything." I say.

"It's okay. I'll live. Mom said to tell you to come down with the books and Morgan will help some more." She says. "You know on things you don't want to try alone."

I smile and grab the things I know are for potions. I take them down to the kitchen and see Morgan and Charlie there. They smile at me and helped set up my stuff. Once it's finished, we open my book and select a potion to try.

"This one is an easy one. Each potion is pretty much like it, but the difficulty changes. Once you master this one, you will almost always know how rondo the first year ones." Says Morgan.

"Each year, more and more ingredients get added with more and more prep needed before you begin. It's pretty easy once you actually are there." Says Charlie.

"So if I know how to make this one I'll be caught up for this term?" I ask them.

"Pretty much. We saw the flashes and smoke, while we were outside, so we know you know how to use a wand and do some spells, again it's easy. Now lest see you try this." Says Morgan.

I read the instructions and prepare everything like the book says. I begin pertinent together and smile Asbury looks as it should, according to the book.

"That's great, turns out you are a natural. I think you can rest assured that you are pretty much caught up." Says Charlie.

I smile and say, "Thanks. Is Ron this good?"

"Not really, but he will get there." Says Morgan.

"Tomorrow we are all going to get our school supplies. I don't have to go along. I am willing to stay here if you don't want to go." Says Charlie.

"That's nice of you. I don't want to go." I said.

I help Morgan clean up our mess and take it all up to my room. I sit on the bed and close my eyes. This place is so different than I am used to. I am used to black curtains and no one else around to talk to. I am used to a tutor coming in and teaching me things I would need to know. My mother would check on me throughout the day, where Molly doesn't check on me but when I see her she smiles. My father acted like he hated me, like he didn't want me around, where Arthur is giving me the space I need but knows that I am here and he wants me here. A new person arrived while I was working and she is going to sleep in the room with Ginny and I. I haven't met her yet but I know I will soon. I open my eyes and see a girl with brown bushy hair smiling at me.

"Hello, I am Hermione Granger." She says smiling at me.

"Avalee." I say, "Nice to meet you."

"Same to you. If you need help with anything I can help, I've read all our new booms already and I am pretty smart." She adds.

"Thanks, I'll keep that in mind." I say.

She is very happy and bubbly. It makes me a little uneasy. Ron comes in and smiles at me. He pulls Hermione out of the room and I am alone again. I wish I could speak to my mother and tell her I miss her. I know I shouldn't miss her, but I do. She was all I knew for twelve years. All I really ever saw except my father and tutor. I shake my head and tell myself that I can't think about my old life. I have a new one to live now.
