Suffice to say that after that Potter and I avoided crossing paths as much as we could. The occasional glare here and there during class when we would catch the other person staring, I even put up my fingers at him one time just for fun. Time seemed to slip faster and faster as the first month of school went by, nothing eventful happening at all. That was all until one unlucky Sunday night, the 28th of September. Remus, Lily, and I were all hanging out in the library at our usual spot.

"C'mon Reigna, its your 16th tomorrow, you've got to do something," Lily whined at me.

"We know you don't like celebrating birthdays, but she's got a point you know, you got to live a little," Remus added

"We haven't properly celebrated your birthday ever! I mean not a party or anything but you should do something," Lily said

"Like what?" I asked dryly, not getting excited at all.

Its not like I had something against birthdays, it's just that growing up mother and father always put so much pressure and attention on them, making sure that I knew that growing up equaled owning up to the family name and our legacy and whatnot. AKA hating muggleborns, being prejudiced, and serving the dark side. The more I grew up the more my parents showed me what their world was like, and I did not want any part in it. Other than that, I just didn't see it as a big deal, it's just another day of the year. I'd rather spend the day like any other, just hanging out with my closest friends, rather than making it meaningless by hanging with a bunch of strangers. Throwing a party just means a bunch of people who don't really like me or don't really know me would show up to party and get wasted. And don't get me wrong, I love me a good party, I'll even throw one for my friends, but for some reason I hate being on the receiving end of them. I just don't do well with people doing things for me out of the goodness of their hearts, especially when they don't expect something in return. That's just weird.

Wow trust issues much, a voice in my head said

Oh shut it, another one responded

It is true though, I could count the people I trusted on one hand.

"Umm- I haven't really thought this far," Lily grinned sheepishly, shrugging, "Didn't think you'd agree."

"Oh I've got it!" Remus exclaimed suddenly, "But I need to do something first. Meet me in the third-floor corridor, by the one eye witched statue in an hour," He said before hastily getting up and running off

"Oi- nothing too wild, it's a school day tomorrow!" I shouted after Remus as he ran off, before turning to Lily,

"In an hour? It'll be curfew then, tomorrow is a Monday Lil, birthday or not we've got classes-"

"You really sound like a prefect there Reigna," Lily interrupted, "You're only 16 why are you so uptight already," she teased, "You know I love classes as much as you do, but so does Remus, and he wouldn't do something that drastic, don't worry, but you really got to loosen up," Lily continued, "Besides, what's the worse that'll happen?"

"Ahh- famous last words Evans, famous last words," I retorted. Lily and I just hung out chatting and teasing each other, and before we knew it, it was 5 to 9.

"Oh shoot Reigna, we're going to be late," Lily said looking at her watch,

"Is that really such a bad thing," I responded, groaning as she dragged me out of the library.

We soon made it to the third corridor and reached the statue of the witch just two minutes past 9. As we approached we heard people talking in hushed voices

"Honestly Remus, I think this is a bad idea," Potter said

"Hey, we all agreed this was a great idea, we all wanted to get out for a bit, what's the harm if we have plus ones," Sirius defended
