Christmas was always family time for Percy but not this time. The day was coming closer and Percy still didn't know where his family was. They had charmed the place up, his memory of the address was foggy. He thought about writing a letter to Ginny or Ron or the twins at Hogwarts but with Umbridge there, he couldn't trust that.

An owl flew in and dropped a letter at Percy's desk one evening and as he read those words, his heart dropped. He could barely process what had happened. His father was in St. Mungo's, he was attacked, right here in the ministry.

With his heart racing, Percy dropped everything, including the letter, and rushed to the elevator.

"Where are you going?" Fudge was standing before him.

"I-I have to go to St. Mungo's" He told him, "My father-"

"We are aware of your father's condition"

Percy sighed, "I'll see you tomorrow then"

"Before you go, we need to have a chat in my office" Fudge said.

News spread fast in the Ministry. Audrey was beyond worried about Arthur Weasley. No matter how mad she was at Percy, she still cared.

The girl, stuck at work, immediately wrote a letter to Iris. She was a healer at St. Mungo's and would be able to update Audrey.

"What do you mean Percy didn't show up?" Audrey sat in front of her friend at dinner.

"His whole family was there but him" Iris replied.

"But I thought he had patched  up with them" Audrey said.

"I guess not.." Iris didn't know what else to say, "Do you want me to find out more? I can try"

"No-I don't want to get involved" Audrey shook her head, "Percy can care for his family or he can live alone, It's his choice and not mine to meddle into"

Iris looked at her friend. She cared, she cared too much  but she won't admit it. Audrey was genuinely fond of Percy, he was a good person. Although people do change, people do stop caring. Audrey had a hard time believing Percy could ever do that, he was always loyal, especially to his family. She still hadn't come to terms with it but she would never accept that, her stubbornness always got the best of her.

Percy sat alone in his apartment on christmas eve. He wanted to go home, he missed his family, but he was conflicted. He didn't trust Dumbledore, he would never trust Dumbledore, but the ministry was not one he wanted to side with.

There was a knock on his door. Percy grabbed his wand and opened the door only to see his mother. Her face sad and her eyes filled with tears.
"Perce-"

"Mum! What are you doing here?" He was fighting the urge to hug her, to sink into her arms and forget everything else.

"Please-just come home" She said. Molly handed him his Weasley sweater, "Please"

Percy wanted to but he knew he couldn't, "No" he was stern, he had to be. He shoved the sweater back to her, "My decision was final. I don't trust Dumbledore and it's time for us to go our separate ways"

"But-"

"No, mum!" He was panicking inside. The ministry knew his family was acquainted with Sirius, this could go so wrong, they were watching him. "Just-go"

"Percy! We're family-"

"You have to leave. I don't want to talk about it" And with a heavy heart, Percy slammed the door in Molly's face.

Tears threatened to blur his eyes but Percy held back. He wanted to go home, he wanted to ask how his father was, he had wanted to go to St. Mungo's.

"You may go to St. Mungo's but you have to find out where the secret home is, where Sirius black is" Fudge told him.

"I don't know"

"We want to know Dumbledore's plans and we want to know what they are thinking. We want a confession from Harry saying that he's lying about He-who-must-not-be-named"

Percy knew Harry wasn't lying. He knew that the Ministry was just trying to benefit itself. He ran away, he didn't go to St. Mungo's. He put charms over his apartment, he made sure that no one from the ministry could enter his house. But, he would have to face them soon, what would he say? He was going to Quit.

Percy left home because he didn't trust Dumbledore, because he knew that staying in good terms with the ministry could possibly keep his family protected. He was wrong about the Ministry, they didn't know what they were doing. His plan, his career, his life was all going farther away, the more he realized the truth.

He still didn't trust Dumbledore, but he knew he had to keep harry away from The Ministry.
