"Well Halt's been pestering Crowley since you left the castle, he's worried about you, so Crowley gave in and sent me too."
The crew snickered as Will reddened.
"I can look after myself!"
Gilan grinned at him leaning over to ruffle his hair.
"Poor Willie big brother Gilan's gonna take care of you."
Will yanked his head back but couldn't help but grin.
"Halt's a worse worrywart than Tug." He grumbled. Hal grinned jerking his thumb at the grinning Thorn.
"Tell me about it."
They all laughed and Thorn rose his eyebrow at him. Will got a small feeling in his stomach that Thorn was even more like Halt than he remembered.
"And what's the other reason you're here?"
Will raised his own eyebrow at Gilan, Gilan hesitated briefly.
"They may say one riot one ranger, but Halt thinks that it might be a good idea to send 2 rangers to save a country."
"...Save a country, i thought we were going to sign a treaty!"
The skandians stayed quiet as the rangers talked,
"We don't know what we're up against, but there's something going on, something bigger than a small uprising, Skandia has a lot going on and it's all going to come to a head very shortly."
"Crowley is going to brief us all later but for now is everything sorted for the journey?"
Gilan addressed Hal,
"Edvin will stock up on the shortlife provisions before we leave tomorrow so we have fresh bread and stuff like that but everything else is sorted to leave when you're ready."
"How does tomorrow sound?"
"The tide leaves at 7, be here before then."
"Will do."
Sorry for the short chapter but at least there is one after a year and half of nothing!! I'll try to write more within the next week but it may be a while before the end of this story is seen. Thanks for all the reads and urgings to get my writing again, I really needed it I tried giving up on writing which was huge for me since it's been my life since i was 4 years old and giving it up took a lot of effort but I came back on here and read all the things people have written and it was just like, you know what i'm not going to stop I will write a novel and it will get read, I love you all so much for this thankyou!!
