Chapter 9

I walk along the school halls on the way to my last class of the day. Marinette had to leave early to go to the dentist so she won't be there. I look around as I walk through the halls. I see Luka sitting on a bench playing his guitar for a group of girls. Ever since he came to this school I've heard multiple girls pining over him.

"I guess I'm not the main hot guy anymore" I say quietly to myself. Ew that sounded self-centered I realized a little after saying it.

Finally I head into the classroom and sit in my seat. Luka walks in a moment after and sits next to me. This time he doesn't bother to try to say hi or smile at me. I don't pay attention to most of the lesson. The lesson ends quickly or at least feels like it does.

Finally the teacher lets us leave the classroom. I get up and exit the room. I begin walking through the halls of the school taking out my phone to text Marinette about her appointment.

I feel someone's hand touch my shoulder, I turn around to see who it was. It was .. "Luka!?"

"Hey Adrien"

"Uh hi, what do you need?" I asked him.

"Uh ya I just wanted to uh ask you something... do you not like me or something?" he says awkwardly.

"What! Noooo. No wayyyy"

"Really?"

"Yaaaaaa"

"Ok well um, that's good. See you tomorrow I guess"

I nod and walk away.

"Well that was weird" I think to myself.

When I arrived at my house I texted Marinette asking her about her appointment since I was interrupted earlier.

"Hey M'lady, how'd the appointment go?" I send it to her. I wait a few seconds and see that she read it.

"It went fine, turns out I have perfect teeth lol"

"Well I could have told you that"

"I know that but if I asked you anything about me you'd say it's perfect"

"Yeah and?"

"Well its kinda better to get a professionals opinion"

"Well if they say anything other than perfect then they're wrong"

"Lol ya ok." I laugh a little.

"So you wanna hang out again today?"

"Sorry I cant, I have to tutor Luka again today"

"Seriously? Ugh fineeee. See you tomorrow then I guess."

"Oh Kitty, don't be jealous. I'm only helping him in math"

"I know I know"

"Well I actually have to leave now, so byee"

"Bye Bugaboo"

"Bye Kitty"

I put my phone down and let out a sigh. I think I'm going to go for a walk, I think to myself.

I put my phone in my pocket and walked out of my room. I run down the stairs and twist the doorknob but Nathalie interrupts me. "Where are you going Adrien?" she asks me.

"Oh I was just going to go for a walk" I said back to her.

"Did you finish all your homework?"

"Yes"

"Your piano practice?"

"Yes"

"Ok fine, you may go"

"Thanks Nathalie"

I head out the door and begin walking along the sidewalk. I reach the bridge we usually hang out on and walk along it. I stop and see Marinette and Luka sitting on the grass with a bunch of papers around them. I guess I never asked her where she was tutoring him.

I try to walk away, respecting their privacy but I get an urge to continue walking towards them.

I crouch down so they can't see me. I look around the corner to see what they're doing.

Marinette seems to be laughing at a joke Luka told. Lukas also laughed while playing his guitar.

Eventually they get back to the math. I guess I had nothing to worry about. I still stay there though.

After a few moments of waiting there, they don't seem to do anything else. I get up and walk away, trying to make sure they dont notice me. Once I'm halfway to the other side of the bridge I turn around one last time and see that they're standing up. I assume that they are getting ready to leave. I continue watching them.

Marinette tries to pick up all the papers but she drops them all on the ground. I giggle a little, I love how clumsy she is. Luka and Marinette bend down at the same time to pick them up but hit heads. They look each other in the eyes. My eyes widen. This looks like a moment that Marinette and I had before we started dating. They laugh a little and Luka helps her with the papers. She passes them to her.

Marinette seems to tell him something as she's laughing a little. He puts his hand on her shoulder. I jump up wanting to push him off of her but before I start walking he takes it off. I know my reaction was a bit extreme for just a touch on the shoulder, but it was more than that.

He waves goodbye as he walks away from her. I let out a sigh and started heading back.

On my way back to my house, I got a text from Marinette.

"Hey, im done tutoring Luka btw"

I send a thumbs up back to her "ok im a little busy rn, i'll text you back later"

She sends a heart emoji and I send one back, I then put my phone in my pocket and continue walking to my house.

I eventually arrive back at my house and head up to my room. I text marnette back saying that I'm not busy anymore but she doesn't answer me. I'm ok with it because I'm already pretty exhausted and I'm in desperate need of a shower. After a good 30 minute hot shower I get changed and go to bed a little earlier than usual. I turn around in my bed and put one arm under my pillow. I relax and close my eyes.

I head into school the next day, I wait for Marinette to walk into the building. Finally I see her walk in but she's talking to Luka. I sigh and turn around. I head into class and watch as they head in at the same time, still talking.

"What were you doing? I waited for you outside but I didn't see you "I ask her. I know I lied but I wanted to see what she would say.

"Oh I was uh.. Just talking to Alya!"

"Oh ok"

I look down at my shoes. Why did she lie? Is there something going on between them? No, no way.. Marinette would never do that, I tell myself.

Finally the bell rings for our next class but as we're walking out I stop Marinette in the hall.

"Heyyy Bugaboo, wanna hang out tonight?"

"Oh um, I would but im tutoring Luka again tonight, sorry"

"But that's what you said yesterday, and the day before, and the day before that, and the day before that, and the day bef-"

"Ok I get it, I'm sorry, ok. I'm just trying to help get his grades up"

I sigh. "I know, it's just that I thought this was just supposed to be a weekly thing"

"Don't worry Kitty, it's only for like another week then you'll have me all to yourself. I promise"

I smile at her, I feel relieved that this won't last forever and everything will go back to normal.
