Beth had met Emily a week after her last year of high school ended. It was right when Emily had moved there to get ready for college. Of course before, her and her parents looked around for a bit, just to get a feel of where she would be living. Now she was back for good, and she felt liberated to be on her own, escaping all the drama from her parents to start her own life.
With being a bit new and needing a couple more things, Emily thought it would be best to walk around the area for a bit. She wanted some clothes so she thought it would be killing two birds with one stone. What better way to go out and explore than shop for a few things that she needed. Maybe she could even meet new people that might be going to the same school as her.
Now Emily was never crazy about meeting new people all the time, but she liked people and it would be good to know at least one person from school. If Emily was interested or the slight bit curious about someone, she was sure to be the first one to talk to them, that's just how she was. She didn't walk in with the intent of finding a friend but that's how it turned out.
For the most part, Emily had been minding her own business, just looking at clothes, specifically shirts that were on a rack. Next she knew she was going to look at the hats. Just like Beth, she loved fashion, the two looked good in anything really. As her hands were slightly gliding over every piece of fabric to get a feel of them, she thought to herself for a moment, wondering which one she would choose.
The peace and quite that Emily had been thriving in in at the moment had been ruined. "Hey excuse me." A man said while gently tapping her shoulder, instantly, she turned around with a small hint of confusion on her face. Before she could get out another word, he spoke. "I just wanted to say that I think you're really pretty." He told her with a smile and a few nods. All she could do was put on a fake smile and nod as well.
"Oh, thank you." Emily said, accepting the very out of the blue compliment, it wasn't the first time this happened. Very uncomfortable already, she just turned around pretending he wasn't there and hoping for the stranger to go away, but nope, he was still there. "Do you think I can have your number or something, maybe we can hang out sometime." He added as if he didn't get the hint that she clearly wasn't interested.
"I have a boyfriend..." she lied, subtly moving away, acting like she was just scanning through the tops as she previously was, but she was just trying to get away from him without being so rude. "Oh that's a shame." He said with a sigh, putting his hands in his pocket, then he let out a small laugh. "Are you lying, I feel like you're lying..." he told her, making her roll her eyes although he didn't really see her massive eye roll.
