Beth and Emily hadn't been talking, which seemed weird to me. Everyone seemed to be doing pretty okay relationships wise. Beth and Gregg were happy, and I was happy with Emily, as for Beth and I, it was honestly pretty normal, nothing weird at all. At first I thought they weren't talking because maybe Beth said something about me. I knew only a little, but I just knew that she would feel some type of way, and she felt guilty like she was obligated to tell Emily about what happened a while ago. But she didn't, it wasn't really relevant since it happened before I even knew Emily.
Then I thought maybe she was jealous which was pretty stupid of me to think, I shouldn't flatter myself all that much, she didn't even have a crush on me at all before or while I was with Emily. If anything I felt that she was a bit jealous of me taking her time away from her best friend, just like how Emily hated when she couldn't hang out with Beth because of Gregg. I was absolutely relieved to hear that Beth hadn't said anything about what happened at the park, it would've been dumb to bring up something so old for no reason.
The reason they weren't talking was a bit complicated, and it had nothing to do with me, but it did have something to do with Gregg. After school Beth invited Emily to eat at her house since they usually did that but Beth had never made anything for her, they usually just order food. That day Beth was making enchiladas, which was probably one of my favorite foods that she made, her family were really good cooks. Sometimes I just agreed to go to her parents house because they made good food, it made up for her dad getting mad at me every time I went over.
Everything seemed to be going fine, it wasn't awkward at all, it got less awkward as time went by. The first time we all hung out it was pretty weird, well in my mind it was weird. For Emily she was just uncomfortable telling her friend about me and as for Beth...I'm pretty sure she was just surprised if anything, Gregg just didn't really care. I'm pretty sure it was my own head just making it so weird. Now it was pretty okay, it's not like we hung out all the time, only once in a while. But it wasn't your traditional sit a table and talk about shit, it was more like eat in the living room, talk shit about a stupid movie we were watching and smoke weed.
That's exactly what we did that day, almost everyone was there except for James, he was too busy trying to fix his shit bucket of a car. "I have to leave in a bit, babe." Gregg told Beth quietly giving her a small kick on her side while she sat down on the floor with her legs crisscrossed and Gregg sitting on the couch right above her. "For what?" Beth questioned with a small bit of disappointment on her face, looking away from the small television and up at her boyfriend who was resting comfortably. "I just have something that came up, I'll come back tomorrow, it's no big deal." He told her.
